English National Ballet returns to the Royal Albert Hall this June with Swan Lake in-the-round. See the iconic ballet on an epic scale this summer. While the ballet dancers at the English National Ballet practice for over 150 hours, in the Hall, technicians work for over 44 hours to raise the whole floor of the auditorium, rig new lighting and set the stage for an 80-piece orchestra! With a cast of 120 dancers, including 60 intricately dressed swans, the Swan Lake costumiers have a challenging job. Every one of the 100cm diameter principal tutus must be studded with over 200 Swarovski crystals, 400 sequins and 5 metres of feathers. Each costume takes over 4 hours of work! Set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, Swan Lake has been a success since 1877, when the first choreographed production was premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet. Although the steps have been rechoreographed multiple times, the 124 minutes of iconic music are unchanged, and today the ballet is recognised as an international favourite.

Escape to Serenity: Your Perfect Waterfront Staycation Awaits at Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill-Dudley

Our recent stay at the Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill-Dudley was truly memorable, thanks to the exceptional experience we received staying in the Club Waterfront Family Room, the delicious food we enjoyed and the great location. Here’s a detailed account of our stay. Set in the heart of Dudley’s historic canal marina, the Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill-Dudley is a luxury corporate hotel boasting a stunning waterfront location. With 138 en-suite rooms, modern amenities, leisure club and spa. An ideal staycation in the UK’s black country for family walks and creating memories.

The staff at Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill-Dudley played a crucial role in making our staycation delightful. Staff were warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived.  The hotel environment and service made us feel right at home. Staff were attentive and helpful to any request we had whether it was for additional amenities or information about the local area. The service stood out as every interaction was prompt and courteous.  All of our needs for our family staycation were met with efficiency and a smile.

Beautiful Family Bedrooms

The Club Waterfront Family room provided every comfort with the added bonus of beautiful views of the canal.  Each room featured the comforts of a Standard Room, with added ‘club benefits’, including complimentary WiFi, breakfast, newspaper and mineral water.

Food and Drink

Located on the ground floor, off the reception Faradays, offers an a la carte menu service for lunch and dinner, as well as a selection of daily specials served each evening from 5.30pm. The bar opens at midday and serves until 11pm, with the patio overlooking the Waterfront providing panoramic views of the canal basin. The kids enjoyed sitting outside for sunset while we enjoyed our drinks. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was served at Faradays, and we loved having the fish and chips as well as their Indian speciality courses. The service was always great and staff were very welcoming and friendly.  We appreciated the consideration hotel staff provided withreserving our tables so they overlooked the waterfront.

Leisure Club and Spa

The Spa at Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill-Dudley offers a luxurious and relaxing experience with a variety of therapeutic treatments and holistic experiences, with facilities including a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, and swimming pool.

Spa day packages are available, offering treatments, welcome drinks, and unlimited use of the thermal and wet spa.  Kensington Mums were treated to a Caudalie facial and back and neck massage.  The Caudalie facial is a transformative experience designed to rejuvenate tired and stressed skin.  For mums constantly on the go, this facial offers several key benefits including a deep cleansing and detoxification.  Followed by a hydration boost using Caudelie’s signature grape-based products, the facial hydrates skin leaving it plump and radiant.  The beauty treatment rooms are a great way to relax and restore body and mind. To compliment the facial, we melted away our tension with a Back and Neck Massage. Our delicious massage alleviated muscle knots and tension caused by daily stress and physical strain.  We left the spa feeling energised, ready for the rest of the mum duties of the holiday! While the kids enjoyed spending hours swimming in the indoor heated pool. It was a win win for all!

Things to do

There are plenty of things to do around Dudley, the below are the activities we kept ourselves entertained with during our two nights staycation:

  • Black Country Living Museum: Walk in the footsteps of the Peaky Blinders and see where many of the scenes from the world-famous TV programme were filmed. The museum tells the story of the Industrial Revolution and how it transformed a region. This was the ideal family day out. Walk in the footsteps of the Peaky Blinders and see where many of the scenes from the world famous TV programme were filmed. This museum is perhaps one of the best equipped to tell the story of how the Industrial Revolution transformed a region. Spanning 10 hectares, the museum grounds include more than 50 shops, houses, and workshops that have been renovated to display the region as it was during the days of its industrial reign. Hop on the tram and ride across the village, and go down into the coal mine to experience what life was like for the miners. The kids were fully entertained by the anecdotes narrated by the many costumed characters that you meet along the way.  You will experience sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of the Black Country, as you explore shops, houses, and industrial workshops. This was the ideal family day out.
  • Merry Hill Shopping Centre: Mill Hill Shopping Centre, is a few minutes’ walk from the Hotel.  The centre features a variety of retail stores, from fashion boutiques to electronics shops, ensuring that there is something for everyone making it a convenient spot for a family day out or a quick shopping trip.
  • Kitty Cafe: For all cat lovers, Kitty Café, is located in the heart of Birmingham at Grand Central Station. Possibly the cutest way to enjoy a cup of coffee and cake being able to cuddle countless furry friends!·

  • Cadbury World: Our family day out at Cadbury World was an unforgettable experience packed with fun and excitement. Located in Bournville, Birmingham, this attraction offers a delightful journey into the world of chocolate. The Chocolate Making Zone was a family highlight, where we watched skilled chocolatiers create delectable treats.  The 4D Chocolate Adventure provided a thrilling ride that had us soaring through the skies and diving into liquid chocolate, much to the kids’ delight. The Cadbury Story exhibition was both educational and entertaining, offering insights into the history of chocolate and the Cadbury company. Our children loved learning about the origins of cocoa beans and the chocolate-making process through engaging displays and fun activities.

Our stay at Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill Dudley was a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and exceptional service. The beautiful views, coupled with the added club benefits and the friendly staff, made our stay truly unforgettable. We highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a serene and luxurious getaway.

Brioni Eau de Parfum Essentiel, a modern and delightful choice for Father’s Day

Father's Day Guide

Brioni Design Director, Norbert Stumpfl, describes their Eau de Parfum Essentiel as ‘a modern, natural-origin fragrance for a man of his time. A powerful, unexpected and reassuring scent’.

The fragrance, composed by Master Perfumer Michel Almairac, opens like rays of sunlight dancing through trees as you stroll around the grounds of an Italian palazzo. Sparkling bergamot and bright aromatic cardamom create a play of light through tender tomato leaves. Supple and velvety as a pieno fiore suede blazer, earthy patchouli is the scent’s statement piece. Here, it is paired with a natural material specially crafted to enhance the woody facets of a tonka bean variety exclusively reserved for this launch. Extending the heart’s woody strength into the enveloping amber drydown, two of perfumery’s most spiritual notes – resinous frankincense and creamy sandalwood, leave a lingering trail.

Crafted with the same care and innate style as a Brioni garment, the fragrance perfectly balances technical expertise, artisanal craftsmanship, refinement, fluidity and longevity.

Mastering the Art of Being Yourself: Embr Wave 2 Style | Review

Kensington Mums reviews the Embr Wave 2

We are all aware of the various stages we women go through… each of these mark important milestones as they are life events unique to women. There are three distinctive phases: puberty, the reproductive age with pregnancy and delivery, and then getting to the perimenopausal stage to transition into menopause.
Now, you could be one of the lucky women that don’t even notice they are going through it, or you can start getting the symptoms when you have not even reached the menopausal stage.

In any case, this is another reminder that only women are the ones that can go through all these challenging changes as men would never even be able to tolerate one menstrual cycle in their life! Proving one more time that we are so strong but yet fragile at the same time and therefore we must support each other throughout this beautiful journey called life.

As we always like to keep you in the loop, we want to introduce to you this amazing device that is able to help and bring relief during the transition to menopause.
We had the opportunity to test the Embr Wave 2 and here is our true and honest review!

Wave 2 bracelet is a lovely, and must say fashionable devise, for real it looks like a nice bracelet, which makes it not at all obvious that it is a menopausal devise to help women suffering from hot flashes. It actually looks like a high-tech smartwatch. It comes with a chain-like wristband in black or pink rose and there are other options to buy wristbands such as vegan leather in different colours red, olive green, white, cream and black. Personally, for me, the chain wristband was a little uncomfortable as somehow my arm hairs got stuck in the small links of the chain. However, this is a tolerating discomfort compared to the hot flashes. They also have accessories you can purchase to enhance your experience as well as a cleaning kit.

The Embr Wave 2 is a personal thermal regulation device designated to provide immediate relief from temperature discomfort. It aims to help users manage hot flashes, night sweats, chills and other menopause-related symptoms by delivering calibrated cooling or warming sensations at the touch of a button. Yes, you read right – just need to click on the button and wait for a blue light to start feeling a super cold sensation on your wrist that somehow magically releases the heat sensation that comes from getting a hot flash. The Wave 2 features two buttons: the cooling and the warming button. It offers a sense of control over unpredictable temperature fluctuations, which can significally enhance comfort and overall well-being. By stabilising body temperature, it helps reduce night sweats and chills, allowing for a more restful sleep.

The Wave 2 is very easy to use and charge using a USB cable that quickly charges. The battery life is fantastic as it lasted several days on a single charge, but I am sure it depends on the usage frequency. After charging it for the first time I read the instructions and also downloaded the free App on my mobile which really enhances the whole experience. The app is intuitive and easy to navigate, with features like setting personalised temperatures preferences, scheduling sessions and tracking relief effectiveness over time. You need to wear the Wave on the inside of your wrist and close to your skin. When I start feeling the hot flashes I just need to click on a button and then let the magic work.
