The Ultimate Family Holiday at Alpin Juwel in Saalbach Hinterglemm

Alpin Juwel

Kensington Mums reviews: Press review*

The Experience

Nestled in the stunning Austrian Alps, Alpin Juwel offers a perfect blend of luxury, nature, and family-friendly experiences. From the moment we arrived to Salzburg we got picked up by the Hotel pick up service straight to the hotel. We were welcomed with warm hospitality and breathtaking panoramic views. The hotel’s unique architecture, crafted with natural materials like wood and stone, created an authentic alpine atmosphere that felt both luxurious and eco-friendly.

The Stay

alpin juwelAlpin Juwel boasts 76 beautifully designed rooms and suites, each offering a blend of traditional charm and modern comfort. Kensington Mums stayed in the Fischer Ski Suite, which fits 2-4 persons and features natural wooden interiors, a spacious balcony with mountain views, and the renowned Samina Power Sleeping System, ensuring a restful and healthy night’s sleep. We particularly liked that the wireless internet in the room is switched off from 11.00 pm – 7.00 am (must adapt this at home too). The room also has a Grander water fountain in the room, which means kids were able to stay hydrated at all times.

The Kids Club

alpin juwelFor families, the Juwel Courtyard and Kids Club provided endless entertainment for the little ones, while parents could unwind in the AJ-Veda Spa, where Ayurvedic therapists from Sri Lanka offered holistic treatments with 100% natural herbal oils. Alpin Juwel also offers childcare services during peak seasons, a kids’ playland with billiards, arcade games and a room for arts and crafts. The hotel also offers a Juwel courtyard where kids can play and enjoy trampolines fun! During the summer, The hotel offers guided family hikes. The Joker Card, which are included with your stay, provides free access to mountain lifts and local attractions, making it easy to explore the beautiful surroundings during the summer time.

During the winter season, the ski slopes are only a 5-minute walk from the hotel, so families can enjoy ski school for little ones, tobogganing, and night skiing shows, just to name a few.

The Food

alpin juwelThe hotel’s Indulgence Concept focuses on organic and regional products, free from additives and industrial ingredients. We started each day with a sensational breakfast buffet, featuring freshly baked spelt bread, homemade jams, and an immune-boosting juice station.

Lunch and afternoon snacks offered a range of Austrian and international dishes, while the Gourmet Dinner Experience in the Soulfood Show Kitchen was a true highlight. From homemade spelt ravioli to freshly caught fish and indulgent desserts, every dish was crafted with care and passion. The kids also enjoyed the afternoon snack which was included in our stay from 3pm-5pm with a selection fo soups, salads, hot dishes and cake.

The Wellness Experience

alpin juwelThe 800m² wellness area was a true sanctuary. The Over the Edge Pool with stunning views of the Alps was perfect for a relaxing swim, while the outdoor panorama sauna and steam bath helped us unwind after a day of hiking. For those seeking deeper relaxation, the Ayurveda treatments and holistic spa experiences were truly rejuvenating. Kensington mums was treated to a nice facial while the kids enjoyed a swim in the indoor heated pool.

Sustainable Living

Kensington Mums met up with the owner Alex, who explained to us in detail the concept he created along with his wife and two children. One thing we enjoyed learning about is the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, from chemical-free cleaning methods to their zero-waste kitchen concept. The use of local, organic ingredients and energy-efficient design made us feel good about our stay. Stay tuned for more information on their one week detox program catered for both men and women with the aim to make you feel recharged and reconnected. Check out their summer and winter packages here.

The Verdict

Kensington Mums enjoyed staying at Alpin Juwel which offers a perfect family escape, combining luxury, wellness, and adventure in the heart of the Austrian Alps. Whether you are looking for relaxation, ski adventure, outdoor activities, or quality family time, this alpine gem has something for everyone.

Kensington Mums Reviews: Enrica Rocca Cooking School

Enrica Rocca Cooking School

We were delighted to be invited to Enrica Rocca Cooking School, where we spent a relaxed Sunday afternoon creating an Italian feast. What better way to start the day than with good company, delicious food, and a stunning venue tucked away in a hidden garden in the heart of Kensington?

About Enrica Rocca

Enrica Rocca is a family-run cooking school and event space based in Notting Hill and Venice. The Rocca family opened the London school in 2002 in what was once their family home, bringing their love for Italian hospitality and food to the city. Today, the two sisters Charlotte and Claire run the London school, sharing their passion for Italian home cooking, while their mother, Enrica, leads the Venice location.

The school is a warm and inviting space, perfect for reconnecting with people, channelling creativity, and, of course, indulging in authentic Italian cuisine.

Cooking Classes for All – Including Children!

Enrica Rocca Cooking School

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and this cooking school embodies that philosophy. Enrica Rocca offers a variety of open cooking classes, with their most popular being the Portobello Market Tour Class, where participants shop for fresh ingredients before returning to the kitchen to create a delicious feast.

For those looking for private experiences, the school also hosts bespoke cooking classes for groups of 10 to 20 people, ideal for special celebrations, a get-together with friends, or corporate team-building events.

Excitingly, they have recently introduced children’s cooking classes, allowing little ones to explore the joy of cooking, develop new skills, and create tasty Italian dishes. This is a wonderful hands-on activity for budding young chefs!

“IMMERSE YOURSELF IN A GOURMET EXPERIENCE”

What to Expect from their Classes

Enrica Rocca Cooking School

During our session, we immersed ourselves in the art of Italian cooking, using fresh, seasonal ingredients to prepare a feast. Around the welcoming kitchen island, we crafted a variety of antipasti, fresh handmade pasta, and a seasonal dessert before sitting down together to enjoy the fruits of our labour.

Our Menu:

  • Delica Pumpkin Ravioli with Crispy Sage & Brown Butter Sauce
  • Veal Involtini with Taleggio Cheese, Copa Ham, and Sage, in a White Wine and Cream Sauce
  • Radicchio, Pear, Parmigiano & Candied Pecan Nut Salad
  • Homemade Apricot Jam Crostata

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience enjoyable from start to finish. They also accommodate dietary requirements and offer vegetarian alternatives.

A Community Experience

The 3.5-hour session was about so much more than food—it was an opportunity to connect with others, discover Italian flavours, and enjoy a hands-on cooking experience. Whether you are looking for a fun activity with fellow mums, a family-friendly experience, or a chance to meet with like-minded food lovers, this class is a fantastic choice. It truly felt like a home away from home.

If you’re thinking of trying a cooking class, we highly recommend Enrica Rocca Cooking School!

Travel Ideas & Family Days Out For Children

Motherhood by Filsane Gure, Co-Founder of Nanny’s Intuition

Motherhood Exhibition

1. Please introduce yourself: Name, what you do and how many children you have.

My name is Filsane Gure, co-founder of Nanny’s Intuition – Nanny Agency – and mother of two children. We help stressed parents who feel like they are sinking due to lack of time in an ocean of parental and work demands.

2. How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?

The secret to my work-life balance lies in recognising that  “having it all” doesn’t mean “doing it all alone.”  By embracing wellness professionals, I successfully home-educate my children, support their personal and mental wellbeing while fully committing to my Nanny Agency.

3. What top tips would you give to any working mum?

Organising my diary every Sunday for the week ahead makes me feel organised and naturally reduces my stress. I set quality time with my children which they love and fills all our cups.  Success to me is about making sure our lives align with our values and regularly review this with my family.  I am not shy in asking for help to ensure our needs are met.

4. What do you love most about London? Do you have a favourite spot with your children?

As a family, we like to embrace the vibrant and diverse rich cultures London has to offer.  We enjoy the opportunity to connect with people and communities by attending festive events. As Londoners, we still enjoy visiting Landmarks Like Tower Bridge, parks and museums.

5. How do you define quality ‘me-time’?

“Me time” isn’t something I do often but is so sweet when it happens. On those special days,  I enjoy sneaking off to the spa for a massage or facial.

6. What is your favourite thing, least favourite thing about parenthood?

The best thing about parenthood is watching my children turn everyday moments into pure magic! I’m the family memory keeper – writing down their funny quotes and treasuring our holiday videos. The hardest part was those midnight wakeups, they were brutal – let’s just say me and sleep have a very special relationship.

7. Tell us something people don’t know about you.

I fear heights but always fight to overcome them.  I have stood on the edge of cliffs, gone paragliding, went on the London Eye and the Eiffel Tower.

8. Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first-time mum?

Don’t compare, every child has strengths and weaknesses.  Don’t worry too much as things have a way of working themselves out.  I can’t express enough how using my intuition has played an important part in raising my children, as your gut feeling will tell you when you are making the right decisions for your family.   Most importantly enjoy quality time with your children as they really do grow up fast.

9. I’m a mum and I own a Nanny Agency and love helping other mums.

Motherhood Exhibition - Nanny's Intuition

10. Finally, please let us know what you love most about Kensington Mums.

I love how  Kensington Mums provide a nurturing supportive environment where you feel a sense of belonging.   They offer great information for Kensington families and my favourite part is connecting and sharing experiences with other mums. Thank you for creating this amazing space.
