1. Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.
I’m Aly @allmumstalk, London mum of two (Lucas, the threenager and Amelie who is two months old). I’ve been doing marketing and social media consultancy for a few luxury brands, but my main focuses are now allmumstalk as well as founding allmums.shop, a platform we are about to launch in order to support all mums’ brilliant business ideas.
2. How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?
I’m mostly working from home which means the concept of a balanced family -work life is now a fairytale I still like to believe in, but I know it doesn’t exist on a daily basis. I’m though trying to prioritise my tasks, usually the night before so I’m slightly more organised the following day. I also have a blackboard which is a good organiser of long term projects (half scribbled by the toddler)
3. What top tips would you give to any working mum?
Work should always come second, so make time for your children (easy to say, I know, I’m currently working on this myself and I have days where I fail, and days where the tiny victories make a huge differ nice).
4. What do you love most about London? Do you have a favourite spot with your children?
Hampstead Heath – hide and seek at the Pergola Hill and Gardens. It makes such an amazing place for reading a book and photography too (very rarely I managed to do this too)
5. How do you define quality ‘me-time’?
This me-time is pretty rare since both children took over our lives, but I guess I enjoy a cuppa with a mum at a nice coffee shop once in a blue moon. I realised I could rarely be on my own too, if I happen to find a few minutes with no one around me, I’m chatting with mums on Instagram, or I’m texting my husband. Pretty terrible, right…
6. What is your favourite & least favourite thing about parenthood?
These two kids are by far the best life project I’ve been working on. The surprise tight cuddles and the fact that there’s a tiny person who looks up at you and finds in you their entire universe. It’s pretty mind blowing to know they believe you know it all. It’s a never ending story though and the lack of sleep doesn’t always allow to fully enjoy all the little things with them.
7. Tell us something people don’t know about you.
I’d love to live by the sea. Any sea! Sun would be ideal too ;)) One day maybe…
8. Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first time Mum?
Don’t overthink things and don’t over plan your days. Don’t eat too many refined sugar sweets (note to myself again!)!! Research says your tired brain is craving up to 30% more sugar, but refined sugars would get your energy levels so low, you would eventually regret that box of chocolates while the kids continue their demanding routine. You can’t pause them, which means it’s not even worth it to slow yourself down.
9. I’m a mum……
And Im stealing the toddler’s candy!
10. Finally, what do you love most about Kensington Mums?
It’s a strong community of lush and smart mums and one can easily notice this from the engagement they create. Obviously I’m a stalker 😉
