Free festive sewing workshops across London

Free festive sewing workshops give Londoners the skills to make their Christmas jumpers sparkle

Christmas is around the corner so why not upcycle last year’s Christmas jumpers.

Love Your Clothes London with a number of London Councils is organizing these great free events, which can be great for the whole family to enjoy.

Fact:

  • The events will equip Londoners with simple skills needed to customize and upcycle clothes, with new data showing less than one in five are confident to redesign unloved items
  • UK consumers spend more than £300m on Christmas jumpers, and two fifths of people plan on wearing them just once or twice

Love Your Clothes London, wants to inspire Londoners to upcycle their clothes by showing them how to create a unique Christmas jumper or customize their party gear.

The workshops, which will involve expert crafters showing attendees how to make simple repairs and alternations using a combination of hand and sewing machine techniques, will take place in 15 locations around London from 8th November to 13th December.

Bring along a plain jumper / sweatshirt / top from your wardrobe or local charity shop, to our festive sewing workshop. During the workshop you will learn a range of useful hand and machine sewing techniques for day to day clothing repair and reuse. You will also walk away with lots of inspiration and your own redesigned party outfit or fundraiser Christmas jumper. Tuition provided by the wonderful Barley Massey of Fabrications in Hackney.

The skills you learn will help you to reduce textiles waste and Love Your Clothes for longer! For more details and to sign up to the events please here .
