Back in 2013, Kensington Mums supported Hestia with a Christmas campaign to help those in need this Christmas. This year and although we’re still experiencing some fantastic weather for autumn, colder days and nights are due to draw in during November with London’s needy unprepared for the bitter temperatures.
Kensington Mums is proud to be supporting this great cause and calling for our local community to show we care too!
Calling London, the annual coat donation drive, is launching their appeal anew with donations accepted from Monday 2nd November. Now in its fifth year, the appeal has clearly resonated with general public – over 2,000 donations were made last year and distributed directly to the needy, with homeless shelters, food banks and refugee centres amongst the recipients.
Conceived in 2010 by a group of friends who had noticed a clear need for warm winter clothing across the board, from the elderly right through to schoolchildren with less-affluent backgrounds, the target is to collect 3,000 coats this year as there are many who would greatly welcome the assistance.
Any coats or thick jackets in good condition can be donated – all shapes, sizes and ages very much welcome. Kids jackets are welcome too! Now you know what to do with your used kids coats, and join us to help those in need this Christmas.
To provide convenient drop-off points Calling London have partnered with Chestertons, one of London’s largest estate agents with more than 30 offices around the capital, where donations can be made. The Kensington drop-off point can be found on the high street, with a map and further office details found here.
