Kensington mums were kindly invited to the newest restaurant in town: Cutting Rooms. The first thing we noticed coming was the beautiful art on the walls. It does take center stage and as they explained later to us, it varies periodically, making your dining experience even more special.
The cocktail list sounds amazing and we ordered 2 of their special mix – both delicious. One of the speciality are the prescription cocktails, served in a medicinal bottle, exactly what the doctor ordered,
The drinks and the food are all sustainably sourced. Even the spirits are delivered in bigger packages and decanted into bottles to keep the waste to a minimum.
All good is thoughtfully sourced, from the best butcher to fish delivered on the same day it’s fished and the cheese from a small goat farm.
What’s on the menu
We order a variety of dishes to sample a little of each section of the menu that is divided into the following parts:
From the Meat section we decided to go with:
6oz Fillet Steak 18 Potato & Celeriac Puree, Shaved Truffle – simply amazing the filet was super tender and cooked to perfection – blue – with sliced truffles on a bed of whipped mash – our favourite dish by far!
We also tried from the meat menu the Braised Lamb Croquette Orange and Balsamic Reduction – very crispy and lovely croquettes with a tangy and sweet reduction that paired heavily with the tasty lamb.
From the Sea Menu – we got tempted with the Crab & Shrimp Balls with a Dill Caper Mayo and Lemon – crispy and very tasty lovely homemade mayo to make it a perfect starter. The balls has a kick of spice! We also tried the
Crispy Fried Squid with Fresh Chilli & Spring Onion, Lemon Aoili – these were very good and the squid was fresh and not chewy at all. This one had much chilli so great choose for those that like a spicy dish!
From the Land section, we went with the Artichoke, Spinach and Parmesan Dip with Rustic Bread – tasty as well with a kick os spicy at the end. Would suggest serving the fresh rustic bread on the side as opposed to on top of the dip 😉 and we also went with the Hand Cut Sweet Potato Chips Truffle Salt, Home Made Mayo what is not to like of truffled sweet potatoes? Simply cooked to perfection and lovely truffle taste.
From the Cheese section we couldn’t resist trying their Honey Glazed Goat’s Cheese Medallion Crumbed Medallion, Honey Drizzle after knowing the story that they source they food specially from a farm goat they have. Lovely to share but recommend to have more than 2 as this can be a big portion to have one whole medallion for one!
We would have loved to go for dessert but we were so full we couldn’t even see their menu.
We have to say that the best will be to order a selection of each of their sections so you can enjoy the different choices they offer. It’s absolutely delicious and every dish is a sharing plate – we love the all experience. We closed off the evening with a drink at the downstairs bar, live music and lovely atmosphere.
All in all it’s a great experience. Great food, beautiful dishes and a relaxed/cool vibe. Cutting Rooms is one to watch!
