London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) is a fast-growing social enterprise of 37 award-winning nurseries across London. Together with families and communities, we enable each child to be the best they can through wonderful experiences that extend their learning. Two of our nurseries are based in Kensington: our Colville Nursery is in the heart of Notting Hill; our Earl’s Court Nursery is a short walk from Earl’s Court station. Like all our nurseries, Colville and Earl’s Court are designed to provide the best learning environments for children, from birth to five years. Both have in-house chefs who use fresh ingredients to prepare healthy meals every day.
At the heart of LEYF is our pedagogy, our philosophy of teaching and learning, which focuses on developing a child’s natural curiosity and confidence. This equips them to leave nursery as inquisitive explorers who love learning. The LEYF Pedagogy consists of seven elements and is based on academic research and partnerships with international early years organisations. It is designed to help children and staff engage in learning that builds children’s cultural and social capital.

Interaction with the natural world is central to the learning experience at St Nicholas Prep’s nursery!
Every child should be happy, valued and confident and in our Nursery at St Nicholas Preparatory School, we provide a supportive and secure environment which enables children to grow and flourish socially, emotionally and academically. We encourage an enjoyment of learning through a range of opportunities, embracing both indoor and outdoor environments. This is done through exploration, play and structured and creative activities. St Nicholas Preparatory School is in an unrivaled location. It has its own large two-acre garden to the rear and is only a stones-throw from Hyde Park. Children use the garden both at break times, and as a classroom. Coupled with Hyde Park, the Nursery pupils without doubt, have enviable opportunities. The outdoor learning program provided, gives them an interaction with the natural world which offers inimitable experiences. Our young children also benefit from specialist teaching in music, PE, French and Mandarin, which only strengthens their love and engagement in their learning.
Whatever we are doing at St Nicholas, we will always be encouraging the growth of social skills and empathy, care and kindness amongst our children. The relationships which they develop with each other and with our staff are central to their happiness, their wider development and lay the best possible foundations for their future.
Our passion for education and the happiness of the children in our care are at the heart of The Kindergartens. We are very proud of all our outstanding nursery schools in Kensington and the children have a wonderful time with us and enjoy many exciting physical activities including forest school, daily outdoor learning opportunities as well as regular trips to the park and into the local community. Each kindergarten (nursery) has an exciting and stimulating learning environment. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is delivered to the children by qualified teachers in small age appropriate groups. The curriculum is based on the seven areas of learning and the timetable offers a balance of structured play and a focused emphasis on all aspects of the EYFS. Movement sessions to music, ballet, sport and drama are taught weekly by peripatetic specialists who plan and deliver an exciting termly programme. Each of our kindergartens (nurseries) operates a morning programme for children over the age of two and many also run an afternoon programme. Children attend up to five mornings or afternoons a week during the term. Children can also attend all day.

The Kensington Kindergarten is an Ofsted outstanding provider in the heart of Kensington. They have one site on Abingdon Road and another in Kensington Square; ideal locations for families living in Kensington, Holland Park, Brook Green and Notting Hill. They have strong ties with many of the leading prep and primary schools in London, and the children are well prepared for entry into those schools. The classrooms at The Kensington Kindergarten are bright and airy, and provide the children with ample room for all the activities the nursery has to offer. They follow the EYFS curriculum as well as select parts of the Montessori method. In addition to that, they place an important focus on physical literacy and outdoor learning; both schools have dedicated soft play rooms and sensory rooms, and the children participate in weekly dance, tennis, football and forest school classes. Children can start at the age of 2 and stay until they are 5.
