Cresconova Labs where Our Whole Family Belongs
When I first walked into Cresconova Labs with my children, I knew we would found something different. Tucked into Chelsea’s Redcliffe Garden neighbourhood, this isn’t just another after-school programme where I drop the kids off and check the clock. It’s a place designed with families like ours in mind. While my children are deep in a project, sketching prototypes, debating ideas with their peers, or learning to use a piece of fabrication equipment I couldn’t have dreamed of at their age, I’m working comfortably from the co-working space. There’s a private meeting room when I need to take a call, a relaxed lounge when I want to read, and the quiet reassurance that we’re all doing meaningful work under the same roof.
As a London-based charity, Cresconova Labs has a clear mission: to drive curiosity, learn by doing and grow in confidence. As a parent, I’ve watched that mission come alive in my own children.
A Framework That Drives Curiosity
What sets Cresconova Labs apart, and what convinced me as a parent, is the way every course is built on a thoughtful educational framework. It isn’t a loose collection of fun activities. It’s a deliberate approach that develops the way our children think.
Beautiful Questions
It begins with Inquiry. Students aren’t handed answers; they’re taught to ask better questions. My daughter came home one evening describing how her instructor led her group through the discovery of micro-organisms, encouraging questions to be written down, both closed and open ended, to be researched within each group. That single shift, from receiving information to investigating it, has changed how she approaches her schoolwork too.
Seeing The Big Picture
From there, students step into systems thinking, learning to see how parts connect to a whole. When learning about Micro-organisms, she is looking at the micro world then zooming out, recognising patterns, and understanding consequences within our ecosystem. It’s the kind of thinking I wish I’d been taught.

Learning By Doing
Design thinking is woven through every project. Students learn to empathise with the people they’re designing for, define real problems, ideate generously, prototype quickly, and test honestly. Failure isn’t punished here; it’s expected and welcomed. “Failing forward” has become a phrase my daughter now uses without irony, and watching her bounce back from a prototype that didn’t work, eager to try the next iteration, has been one of the most reassuring things I’ve witnessed as a parent.
Added to Design Thinking, is the Human + AI interaction, which is where Cresconova Labs feels genuinely future-facing. Rather than fearing AI or banning it, students are taught to collaborate with it thoughtfully, using it as a creative partner, interrogating its outputs, and understanding both its power and its limitations. In a world I sometimes struggle to keep up with, I trust that my children are being prepared not just to use these tools, but to lead with them.
Where Curiosity Meets Excellence
Underpinning all of this is a quiet but unmistakable drive toward excellence. Students are encouraged to push their work beyond “good enough,” to critique generously, to collaborate with rigour, and to aim higher than they thought possible. Confidence grows not from empty praise, but from genuine accomplishment, from making something with their own hands and seeing it work.
Growing In Confidence
The educators here are as enthusiastic as the students, and their multidisciplinary approach means a single project might draw on mathematics, engineering, art, ethics, and storytelling all at once. Big ideas aren’t tolerated here; they’re celebrated.
What I love most, as a parent, is that my children are becoming the kind of learners who don’t wait to be told what to do. They wonder. They build. They iterate. They lean into collaboration and critique. They’ve learned that creativity isn’t a talent some people are born with, it’s a practice, and Cresconova Labs has given them a place to practise it.
Come and meet with the team as they genuinely can’t wait to welcome your family too.
