Kensington Mums Reviews
Just a stone’s throw away from Sloane Square, Kahani is a contemporary Indian restaurant from Peter Joseph, former head chef at the Michelin-starred Tamarind. The luxurious restaurant is a hidden treasure below street level, behind the historic Cadogan Hall on Wilbraham Place and unites Peter’s two home countries; India and England.
Kahani, meaning story in Hindi, was inspired by Peter’s childhood in Tamil Nadu, the southernmost state of India. Here his mother would cook wholesome meals for all the family which were enjoyed over storytelling. Peter now has a new story to tell as Kahani is now open for takeaway, private bookings, as well as a new Kahani at Home service where Peter cooks at your home.
Kahani re-opened their home delivery service since May 2020 and we can’t thank them enough. Finally! you can have the unique Kahani experience at home as well at their luxurious restaurant.
Kensington Mums had the pleasure (and the appetite!) to review Kahani home delivery by the renowned Chef Peter Joseph. Well, we got the extra treat and had our dinner delivered by Chef Peter Joseph in person.
We ordered Kahani’ Chicken Makhani, Kashmiri Nihari, Garlic Naan, Pulao Rice, Saag Paneer and Samosa Platter. The food arrived hot and impeccably packed. The quantities were huge.
We would love to point favorites as we usually do but we can’t, simply because it all tasted delicious! The Chicken was moist with the right amount of sauce and texture. The lamb was soft and tasted so fresh. The rice was still fluffy. The Samosa platter has a variety of stuffing (Punjabi aloo, kolhapuri chicken, chettinad venison). The Saag Paneer was creamy yet not too heavy. The Naan was the right amount of softness while not being oily! We can go on and on.
It is not the first time we try Kahani and it remains by far our favorite Indian in town both at home and for a night out. A must try if you ask us.
Kahani caters to a variety of diets and culinary tastes. You can check our their menu for more details.

Kahani at Home Service
If you are looking for a more private and customized home dinner experience, you can have the opportunity to have a Michelin–level chef cooks in your very own home.
The Kahani at Home Dining Experience is tailored to you, with a consultation with chef beforehand.
Food, service and drink service is all available as an option, which Peter and his team bring so you don’t have to worry about a thing. It’s perfect for catering a private dinner, or even an extra special date night.
To take it one step further, Peter can come to your home for a teaching experience too.
Made to be enjoyed over reminiscing and creating new memories, Kahani continues to tell its story.
Having not opened their doors since March Kahani wanted to make it special – so before their grand reopening in September you can book a private, dine-in experience at Kahani. You’ll have the whole restaurant to yourself – not just the PDR! Sit beside the lobster tank, up against the glass wine cellar, or cosy up next to the exposed-brick fireplace. To match the food, Kahani’s indulgent décor has been influenced by Hindi storytelling and India’s national bird with the private dining room, namely The Peacock Room overlooking the restaurant.
To indulge in this service, Kahani require 48hours minimum to fire up the robata grill and have staff in place accordingly, for a minimum of 6 people.
Kahani is located at 1 Wilbraham Place, London, SW1X 9AE.
