It’s around this time of year that you may start to think about where to go on holiday this summer with the family. This week’s sponsored post Directline Holidays, gives you an insight on why Lanzarote is the ideal place for you and your family.
Lanzarote is the easternmost of the autonomous Canary Islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 125 km off the coast of Africa and 1,000 km from the Iberian Peninsula. Covering less than 1,000 km, Lanzarote is smaller than the neighbouring islands of Feurteventura and Tenerife, but do not let its size deter you, as this island has much to offer.
With a landscape full of natural beautiful sights Lanzarote is a haven for all types of tourists, and with many family orientated resorts this island has become a popular family holiday destination. The contrast of stunning white sandy beaches with tranquil waters and mountainous volcanoes await your discovery in this idyllic holiday hotspot. There are a whole range of attractions and activities to keep you entertained, including organized excursions to some of the island’s natural wonders. Timanfaya Volcano Park is one of the most popular attractions and well worth the trip; a truly unique and memorable experience that the whole family are sure to enjoy. For another unusual trip check out Jameos Del Agua which is a collapsed lava tube that the island born artist Cesar Manrique turned into an underground cave with restaurant, gardens, a lagoon and more.
Other activities include a spectacular water park (Aqualand Aquapark) – Keep the kids smiling as this attraction offers water slides, rapids, lots of swimming pools and a dolphinarium. Scuba-Diving is undoubtedly the most popular water sport in Lanzarote, and facilities cater for both novice and experienced divers. The area below the water’s surface is alive with a beautiful sea bottom with lava rock and sand and abundant fish life. There are also a whole host of beach activities to keep you busy. Try your hand at water skiing, jet skiing or parasailing, or relax and take a trip dolphin and whale spotting.
Resorts that come highly recommended for travellers with families include Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise. Playa Blanca boasts blue flag beaches, family entertainment and a friendly relaxed atmosphere. This resort has a traditional, relaxed air about it, and the nightlife here is low key. Enjoy evenings sipping cocktails and moonlit strolls along the seafront. Of course, there are a number of disco bars, but generally speaking, this place is all about relaxation. With great reviews and an excellent reputation it is definitely on the list of best Lanzarote resorts.
Costa Teguise is similar in terms of atmosphere and its laid back charm is a hit with families. There are three main beaches to choose from. The biggest, and arguably the best, is Las Cucharas. Made up of soft white sand, it really hits the spot if sunbathing tops your holiday to do list. The smaller El Jabillo beach is more pebbles than sand, whilst Los Charcos boasts an enticing sandy strip. Costa Teguise is a great resort, sure to please those looking for a peaceful getaway.
Lanzarote is a stunning island and an ideal location for a family break that guarantees great beaches, fine weather and an all round relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Currently many tour operators and online agencies like Directline Holiday have massive offers for holidays to Lanzarote, and their low deposit options start from £25 per person for you summer holidays.
