Looking for the perfect family-friendly event? Don’t miss the Great Exhibition Road Festival, (free festival) returning this June for the ultimate summer celebration! Over the weekend of 15-16 June, Exhibition Road and surrounding spaces will be transformed with hundreds of incredible free science and arts events created by some of South Kensington’s iconic culture and research organisations, including Imperial College London, the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, V&A and many more.

With everything from hands-on workshops to interactive shows and even a silent disco, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy! This year’s Festival programme is full of uplifting events that will invite visitors of all ages to imagine a positive vision of the future where people, communities, and the planet flourish together.

For these two days, Exhibition Road and its side streets, squares and historic buildings will come alive with events, games, experiments, food, music, mind-blowing ideas and cutting-edge creations. The Great Exhibition Road Festival will bring the creativity of some of the world’s great museums and centres of arts and science on to the streets of South Kensington. Inventors, artists, scientists and designers will leave their labs and step out of their studios to involve visitors of all ages in hundreds of free events, experiments, spectacular surprises and all manner of close encounters with science and the arts.

Don’t miss visiting the Family Fun Zone, with awesome activities created especially for families. Make music, create artwork, look down a microscope, build models, meet minibeasts or learn a new language through movement and songs. Find out what happens to your brain while you sleep, how surgeons use Virtual Reality, and what the surface of the Sun is really like. Families with children under five can also drop in for stories, songs and rhymes designed just for little ones.

Get creative at one of the hands-on workshops happening across the whole Festival. Design your own model city for happier communities at Happy City, join the Clean, Green, Zooming Machines workshop to make your own super energy-efficient car to race, or create an eco-friendly plant pot to plan your next green goal at Seeds of Change. You can even make your own coral-inspired hat with scientists helping marine wildlife to flourish at Coral Constructors or go to Paper Plate Masks: Animal Adaptations to explore biodiversity and how animals will adapt for the future!

There’s also the Family Space Show, where you can explore the amazing world of space in this live interactive science show, or you can discover the future of food at Future Food Live, as top chefs whip up climate-friendly dishes on the spot.

Join the Swarm Dance: AI Silent Disco, sing with strangers, or learn about the lives of penguins, hybrid 3D-printed musical instruments, revolutionary medical technology, living on other planets, prehistoric sea monsters and the wonders of time. Visitors will be able to construct flexible mini-robots, help to build the cleaner and greener cities of the future, join scientists as they research skeletons, make art based on the messages flying through your brain and enjoy science shows, music, dance and storytelling on the Family Stage.

Plus, you can indulge in delicious food from all over the world and enjoy performances from the Royal College of Music, Royal Albert Hall, and local performers on the Main Stage.
