Anatome – Selfcare, Combining the very best of Nature and Science to Restore Calm to our Lives
Kensington Mums reviews
I had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful Anatome shop nestled in the quiet Chiltern Street in London, which is just parallel to the trendy Marylebone High Street, and opposite the vibrant Chiltern Firehouse. The shop facade is simple with clean lines and simple monochrome colours that draw your eye to the dispensary and bottles of luxurious oils and salts on display.
I was greeted by the lovely Jemma, for my in-house consultation. The smell of the gorgeous oils hits you as you enter the shop like a treat and you feel whisked away to a relaxing, calming spa.  Â
A very unique store
I was taken on a whistle-stop tour of the shop to show me the various products and explained the sections of the store. The space is divided into 3 areas:
- The front room is the dispensary with the oils, salts and vitamins on display.Â
- The middle space is the apothecary where all the magic happens- it’s where all the potions are mixed together, personalised in a bespoke blend for each customer.Â
- Later this month they will also be launching The Learning Room, which is a sleep experience room. Â
Founded by serial entrepreneur, Brendan Murdock
I was also told of the brief history of this new business which was founded by serial entrepreneur – Brendan Murdock. He previously founded a business involved in men’s grooming and he realised the gap in the market for herbal remedies that support both health and wellbeing, in a space where practitioners can advise customers on strategies that support your mental and physical well-being.Â
Another important point is that at Anatome they use only the finest organic ingredients. There is such attention to detail. in fact, they only use glass jars to avoid any contamination with plastics and they don’t use any external packaging to minimise their carbon footprint and to ensure they are as sustainable as possible.Â
I loved hearing this side of the story of this business, as it really demonstrates how important sustainability is to them.
Choosing your very own blend of salts and oils – a truly special experience
We went to the apothecary section to choose my special blend of salts and oils. I was asked various questions about my sleep, stress and lifestyle. It was a simple consultation with a menu of ingredients to choose from for my blend. I chose magnesium and dead sea salts as my base to help with detoxifying and sleep. Next, I chose lavender dried flowers to add to my mixture and finally, we added lavender essential oils to give the most relaxing concoction.Â
Jemma then mixed ingredients in a cocktail mixer. Finally, she carefully poured the blend into a beautiful glass bottle, sealed it and placed it into a luxurious white box with some luscious frankincense oil as well. I felt well and truly spoilt and ready for my relaxing spa bath at home.
And now for some much-needed self-care time at home
At home, I sprinkled a generous amount of the potion I was given, and I let the salts dissolve before I relaxed in the decadent warm bath, with my book. As a mum, these moments are few and far between, but I had all the ingredients for my spa at home and some much-needed self-care time with my new salts, a facemask and I tucked into my latest book.

Coming out of the Covid lockdown, we can all appreciate how vital it is to look after yourself and pamper yourself a little, you can create a little luxurious spa at home – why not? With mental health and wellbeing being so important at Kensington Mums as well, we really loved learning about this exciting new business destined to go places!Â
These consultations are offered at all of their stores for free, I for one, cannot wait to visit them again and try some more magical potions and mixtures and the next birthday gift for someone I love will definitely be coming from Anatome.Â
