Afternoon Tea at The Wellesley

At Kensington Mums we love afternoon teas, this is one of the best things London has to offer. We were delighted to be invited  at The Wellesley, London’s first boutique-grand hotel. Overlooking the Royal Hyde Park amidst the glamour of Knightsbridge, we were invited for their signature afternoon tea for two. My sister was in town, so this was a great opportunity to catch up with her.  As soon as you walk in you can’t help but notice its  beautiful grand decoration, with glamorous  mirrors and sparkly chandeliers. Staff greeted us at the door and again by the stunning Jazz Lounge. We were seated in the piano room which was an excellent choice to unwind and spend an afternoon.

Everything was beautifully set, from the flowers to the decoration set up at every table. We opted for the Traditional Afternoon tea which came with a selection of homemade finger sandwiches, assorted pastries, warm scone served with homemade preserves and clotted cream.

For the tea, The Wellesley blend tea was my choice.  This white tea and whole pink rosebuds was perfect for my liking with delicate rose scented taste.

There was an assortment of miniature cakes but my favourite must be the delicious and soft scones served with clotted cream.  The atmosphere was just perfect and the staff were so friendly and welcoming – nothing was too much trouble and they were attentive to our every need. We loved the piano music playing in the background, it added that special touch to our afternoon.

A big thank you goes to Monsoon UK for the gifted jersey shirt and embellished skirt I am wearing and the beautiful jewellery pieces  are by local Kensington Mum, Maria Khan jewellery. The colourful numerical design pashmina is by Lebanese designer, Nivine Maktabi. This is my mama look.

The whole afternoon experience exceeded my expectation and would definitely recommend this  for a special occasion or a treat with a friend or loved one (minus the kids).  As is our motto here at Kensington Mums you need to “Invest in Yourself”, and this definitely ticked that box.
