Did you know?
One in five children is experiencing frequent bullying. That is 6 children per classroom!
There is another fact that we cannot ignore… It is said that children that experience bullying are at a greater risk of developing depression than children who do not, meaning that there is definitely a correlation between bullying and depression.
Now, that’s definitely a problem to take seriously…
The Anti-Bullying Alliance is a group of organisations and individuals working together to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention and create a safer environment for our children.
They are the official organisers of Anti-Bullying Week and Odd Socks Day.
What is the purpose of Anti-Bullying Week?
Anti-Bullying Week 2021 takes place from 15th to 19th November and has been created to help children talk about this important issue. The theme this year is “One Kind Word”.
We cannot underestimate the importance of positive words. Kind words can really brighten the lives of others around us. It can fill a person with positivity and self-confidence. The power of kind words is endless.
One kind word leads to another, and together we can stop bullying and create a safer environment, where every child feels loved and respected.
What is Odd Socks Day?
Odd Socks Day happens on the first day of Anti-Bullying Week. This year it fell on 15th November 2021.
Odd Socks Day is a great way for children to express themselves and celebrate their uniqueness by wearing odd socks.
Like with fingerprints, no two human beings are the same and that is what makes each one of us special.
Wearing odd socks reminds us of exactly that: No one is perfect; we are all one of a kind and have a special worth within our own circle of friends and family.
Now, that is something worth celebrating, all year round!
