It’s almost Easter and the Easter weekend is around the corner, along with the school holidays. If we keep our fingers crossed, maybe we will even get some sunny weather. So for now let’s just pretend it’s Spring and make do with all the lovely activities London has to offer us. There are loads of fun things to do with your little ones this Easter, most of which are FREE!

The UK’s biggest Easter Egg hunt is back, and this time it’s on tour! 101 giant Easter Eggs will be hidden in cities throughout the country as part of The Lindt Big Egg Hunt supporting Action for Children. London, Covent Garden Friday 22nd March – Monday 7th April. Don’t forget to collect your Hunt Book from the many Eggsperts who will be able to help you with any questions you might have and point you in the right direction of those eggs you just can’t find.For more information, please click here.

Easter at Kew Gardens. Chocolate Quest. Fri 29 March – Sun 14 April 2013,  Travel through time to discover the past and future of the nation’s favourite treat. For more information, please click here.

Pick-a-Fight! Family Event at National Army Museum. 6 -7 April 2013. Bring your budding generals and would-be commanders along this Easter holiday and help re-write history! Suitable for ages 7+. Click here for more information.

Easter Bonnet making competition at Kensington Palace. Fri 29, Sat 30 and Sun 31 March 2013. Come and make your own Easter bonnet/hat (or bring along your own home-made one) inspired by costume at Kensington Palace this Easter weekend. Entries will be judged at 15.00 on each day and prizes awarded. Also don’t miss Spring palace tapestry (Mon 1 – Sun 7 April) for your chance to make a big felt and textile spring tapestry for Kensington Palace inspired by the collection and palace gardens. The BNY Mellon Boat Race. 31st March 2013 at 4.30pm. Enjoy a day out with the family to see the 159th Boat Race between crews from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. First raced in 1829 The Boat Race is one of the oldest sporting events in the world. This will be taking place along the banks of The Tideway, between Putney and Mortlake in London. The Imagination Station – Easter 2013. Victoria and Albert Museum. FREE.  –

Easter at the London Transport Museum.  Monday 1 April – Friday 12 April. Enjoy storytelling (11.00 and 14.00) and find out about London’s Underground stations and meet the imaginary characters who live there. Listen to tales of adventures as they reveal the secrets of what life is like on the Underground. Make and Take (11.30 and 14.30) by adding your contribution to a model tube station, before becoming an architect and inventing your own fantastical station. Easter holidays fun for families at Museum of London. FREE. 29 March – 14 April 2013. . Whether made in a factory, at home or in a workhouse, London has been a hub for creativity and industrialisation. Your little ones will learn how Londoners have made things from Roman times to the present. Activities include Pearly King and Queens, Roman weaving, Sculptastic and demonstrations on how it is made. Casting Shadows at the National Portrait Gallery.FREE. 1-5 April.  A week of activities exploring light, sound and photography inspired by Man Ray Portraits and the Collection.No ticket required. Sessions last approximately 45 minutes. For ages 3+ and their carers. Click here for more information.

Light Show at Southbank Centre. Until 6th of May 2013. Light Show brings together sculptures and artworks that use light in different ways. The exhibition showcases artworks created since the 1960s. Light is used to sculpt and shape space, creating evocative environments and sensory works that play tricks with the viewer’s perception. Click here for more information.
