We are a gentle and creative activity group for ages 3-5, with a view to registering as a fee paying school in September 2021. We will base our curriculum on alternative educational philosophies and cutting-edge research. We believe that children are at the heart of our organisation and each decision, policy, pedagogy and process comes back to the basic aim of creating:

‘A sanctuary of childhood that educates and nurtures the whole child: mind, body, soul & spirit; through compassion, positive relationships and individual achievements in an unhurried environment.’

Who we are?

Sasha Siem is a renowned Singer-songwriter and healer based in London. Following an education at St Paul’s girls’ school in London, a starred double first from Cambridge and a PHD from Harvard, Sasha went on to explore philosophy and metaphysics as well as the role of Spirit and healing in many cultures across the world: including Tibetan Buddhism, Mystical Christianity, Judaic Kabbalah, Sufism, Shamanism, Ayurveda, Korean Meditation.

With the birth of her first son, Dylan, she began researching alternative approaches to education including Waldorf, Montessori, Emilio Reggio, RIE. Her search ignited a passionate desire to curate a fresh approach to education which integrates these apparently different approaches, providing inspiration and nurturing to ALL aspects of a child’s development (intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, societal) while also honoring their unique gifts and trusting them to unfold according to their innate abilities.

Rebecca Sheikh. Rebecca Sheikh is a certified Level 2 Aware Parenting teacher, and her passion lies in supporting parents to find the deep awareness we all possess to heal our relationships with ourselves and our children. She taught as primary school teacher for 17 years before having her first child. She is now the mother of two children (ages 7 and 4). She completed an MA in Counselling in Education at The Tavistock Institute in London. Rebecca runs Flourishing Childhood which offers support to parents using the Aware Parenting approach. She is currently training to be a Jungian Sandplay therapist. Rebecca works as pastoral in a new progressive democratic school in London. She is working together with Sasha on creating policies and procedures that reflect the aim of the group and school. Rebecca also works on the executive committee of The International Attachment Network.

What do we envision?

We believe that many of the current schooling systems are outdated and do not always have children at their heart. We believe that there are exceptional philosophies that deeply understand childhood and child development, and we draw upon these to inform our practice. We continuously come back to our vision to ensure we are indeed nurturing the whole child: mind, body, soul & spirit. Each aspect is as important as the other, and if one aspect is neglected, we believe a child is unable to develop and achieve their full potential. We also understand that each child’s potential is individual and achieved when all parts are cared for, in their own time and is not defined by an age, but their own individual stage of development. Individual achievement is valued and encouraged however the school will not use traditional forms of testing to assess children, but more progressive processes to encourage children towards intrinsic motivation. This is why there is an emphasis on an ‘unhurried’ environment to allow children to explore aspects of themselves, their understanding, and their connectedness before moving onto the next stage. We believe compassion underpins all that we do and we endeavour to live and breathe this as an organisation and supports us to develop positive relationships with others, as an example to the children in our care. We realise conflict is inevitable but work through this using compassionate communication and other mediation techniques. When can you start?

Initially our gentle and creative activity group will run for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, offering art and craft and movement by a qualified teacher and free play in-between activities in a beautiful well-resourced environment.

The Children’s Sanctum Activity Group is an inspirational space where imaginations soar, and children feel seen and valued while fostering resilience, emotional well- being and intrinsic motivation in a safe environment.

Where and when is it held?

When: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30am-12:30am.

Cost:   £50 per session. (minimum 4 sessions per week) (9 spaces available)

We meet at a beautiful venue near Hyde Park Gate.

We end each session with a puppet show.
