A weekend at The Pelham Hotel London

Kensington Mums reviews

Kensington Mums would like to thank the prestigious The Pelham Hotel part of the Starhotels Collezione, for a weekend of luxury in the heart of Kensington, London.

The Pelham London is an iconic retreat in the heart of London with a distinctive eclectic design. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the reception staff and concierge to check me into a much needed relaxing weekend. The staff, including the Concierge, helped me with my luggage and were constantly asking if I needed anything. They were very friendly and polite.

As you walk around the reception, you are grasped by bright interiors blend contemporary with antique, creating a peaceful atmosphere with bright pops of colour on furnishings. The hotel’s interior all lend a quiet energy to the hotel.  While waiting to check it, I walked around to the library and drawing room, which I think was my favourite and where most of my meetings took place. It had this grand English country home in the wood panels and open fireplaces, the design is refreshingly modern and urban and so tranquil… Just what I needed. Some of the pictures we shot, took place in the Gallery room which is ideal for events and private birthday parties.

The Pelham’s 52 rooms and suites all have an individual style and design expressed by a unique mix of antique and modern furniture, paintings and precious fabrics. The perfect location in South Kensington’s vibrant neighborhood. I couldn’t wait to get into my room. We also had planned to take some pictures with our in house photographer Juliana from The personal branding photography for some branding pictures for Kensington Mums. I will be sharing some of them here, to show you what this vibrant and colourful hotel has to offer in more detail.

Location | The Heart of South Kensington

The location was just perfect. The Pelham is set right in the heart of South Kensington’s vibrant neighborhood, a short walk from Kensington Gardens, offering the perfect spot from which to enjoy its array of dining, drinking and shopping options. Located opposite South Kensington underground station – directly connected to Heathrow airport – and a few stops from Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street, it’s the ideal starting point for discovering The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Natural History Museum or The Royal Albert Hall. These museums are ideal for family days out.

The Mews Suite | A private Suite

I was taken to my room, the mews suite…and it was not like any room! This little maissonette, split-level, loft-style is hidden in the quiet Cromwell mews. The Mews is a private suite independent from the hotel, with a separate entrance so it is discreet, I propably have passed by so many times without realizing its part of the Hotel rooms and suites. The mews suite was huge and included a lounge and dining area on the lower level, as well as an open-plan bedroom with king size bed. There as an additional queen-size bed is located on the mezzanine level, which is ideal for children.  The mews suite is convenient and very suitable for longer stays and for families with children. There were a few steps going up, by the concierge are always there for a helping hand. I couldn’t wait to get into a hot bath and bed, even if it was a Saturday night….thats a treat for us mums! Throughout my stay, the room was always kept crips clean and the staff were always helpful with turn down service. There was also a tea corner and complimentary water which was replenished daily.

Breakfast

Breakfast was included during my weekend stay. Hence the PJ in the above picture. The hotel had this arranged at La Trattoria by Alfredo Russo. La Trattoria by Alfredo Russo welcomes guests at any time of day for a delicious breakfast, a light lunch, a special Vintage Afternoon Tea or an elegant candlelit dinner, creating a different ambiance for every moment always distinguished by an impeccable service. They have a corner with books all around, so I choose to sit there. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choices and hot dishes to please the most discerning. And of course, I like to start my day with a hot cup of tea.

Afternoon tea

On the last day at The Pelham, I was also invite to their delightful family dining experience The Victoria and Albert Museum’s latest exhibition: Winnie The Pooh – Exploring a Classic. (At the time of writing the review, this afternoon tea is no longer available and it was only running during the time of the exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum).

However, this adorable afternoon tea features treats inspired by our favourite foodie bear such as Hunny Pops (Honey parfait, white chocolate and caramel glace lollipops), Eeyore’s sweet treat (Chocolate mousse, crumble and fresh orange compote) and Tiggeron (Passion fruit striped macaron). What was also great was that tickets to the V&A’s exhibition on one of the most adored fictional characters of all time were also included part of the afternoon tea. Guests can experience the timeless and universal appeal of this much-loved bear and discover the story behind the creative partnership of A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard, brought to life through sketches, letters, photographs, cartoons, ceramics and fashion. The menus for this afternoon tea have been specially designed to appeal to both adults and the little piglets to create an unforgettable experience for all the family. Make sure to check out some of their current offers they have, as these are always updated on a regular basis.

Yes, I am dreamer and had a dreamy staycation at The Pelham Hotel London. Thank you to the Pelham Hotel for taking such good care of me, letting me sleep and eat well. It was much needed for this tiered mama. A big thank you also goes to yummy mummy Juliana for capturing the stay so beautifully. I enjoyed my stay, it was a little time just for me to unwind and relax. We all lead such busy lifestyle these days, especially Mums so its good to make time for yourself and take things slow. That’s exactly what this staycation was about. I highly recommend a staycation at The Pelham London for families and for those visiting London. It is also ideal for having family members nearby, when your home does not have place to accommodate them.

The Pelham invited us for an honest review. Pictures by The personal brand photographer.
