The Garden Pavilion at Chiswick House and Gardens: a fine dining experience at one of West London’s most stunning locations

Finally, the long awaited time has arrived and we can start to see our lovely city, slowly but surely, become lively once again and what better way is there to celebrate this return than with a gorgeous dining experience in a lovely setting?
The Garden Pavilion at Chiswick House and Gardens offers this experience as it welcomes a new pop-up restaurant housed in a stylish and floral-adorned marquee, nestled in the natural surroundings of the 65 acres of Grade I-listed Chiswick House and Gardens. It is currently open and invites you all to an unforgettable dining experience at one of West London’s most stunning locations. The pop-up licensed restaurant will be open for dining and private celebrations from 29 May – 30 September 2021.
It will serve a seasonally changing British menu, including produce from the newly reopened Kitchen Garden, vía an established premium London catering company, Food Show.

This fine dining restaurant, located adjacent to the beautiful villa, will offer a prix-fixe 2-3 course menu for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Food Show’s expert sommelier has crafted a tasty wine list including English sparkling wine to pair with selections on the menu.

Trying out this restaurant is a must! Lovely décor and divine food. Perfect place to celebrate a wedding, family gatherings, corporate events or any other occasion you were unable to hold during the long lockdown from which we are finally emerging.

The décor is stunning ~ overlooking the beautiful green lawn from Chiswick House & Gardens. Delicate twilight trees and floral decorations create a cosy and intimate environment, while music is softly playing completing the whole ambience. Restrooms are conveniently placed right in front of the marquee.

~ Our Experience ~

We were so lucky as the weather was simply stunning – lovely blue skies and the best summer breeze you could simply dreamed for. So, the weather combined with the delicious three course meal and the lovely staff made this whole experience totally unforgettable!

When you are walking towards the venue you are already surrounded by the luscious greenery from the Chiswick Gardens and then you come upon the lovely huge white marquee where no matter where you are seated you get a lovely view. They even have a couple of tables outside of the marquee where you can enjoy a real “al fresco” meal as well. Better to book in advance if you want to sit outside.

The staff is super welcoming and very professional. All of them wear face masks so you are in a completely Covid-19 safe environment. We were escorted to our table and greeted by the waiting staff. They immediately offered us some drinks and then brought a basket with freshly warm baked bread for us to select the bread of our choice.

Food Show is the catering company and after 33 years of expertise in creating delicious food and inspiring events you are surely here for a divine dining experience. Their philosophy is simple – high quality, fresh and seasonal produce. Partner & Chef Director of food Max Uyanik is one of the most innovative chefs in the industry and is driven to create excellent modern menus which are visually stimulating and exceptional in flavour.

The Prix Fixe menu is simple with only 3 choices to choose from for Starters, Main Course and Desserts. I am sure they will gladly surprise you and most importantly satisfy you. They can cater to vegetarians and also upon request you can have vegan options. They also have a kids’ menu with a selection for the Main Course with fish, chicken or pasta and desserts section with brownie, fruits and ice cream.
We selected to start our experience from the Starters section with the Foie Gras and Gressingham duck terrine that came with pickled garden pears, candied pecans and warm brioche – lovely presentation and very tasty. My husband tried the Passion Fruit Cured Organic Salmon with Mango Salsa and lime with crème fraiche – it looked like a garden on his plate decorated with salmon roses – very light and refreshing with the mango salsa.

For the main Course we both couldn’t resist going with the New Season Duo of Lamb with cannon and pressed crispy belly potato galette, braised garden peas and grilled baby courgettes and lamb jus and we are so happy we did – I mean I am sure that the sea bass is divine as well – but we will have to come back and let you know. The lamb was cooked to perfection ~ pink inside and so tender it simply melted in your mouth the best lamb I have had in a long time – super delicious. My son had the chicken goujons and they kindly accepted my request to change the potato wedges for chips with peas as opposed to broccoli as my son is not a big fan of broccoli and loves chips – the staff was very nice and understanding of the culinary preferences of my son. It is a relief and always a huge plus when you are dining with the little ones especially if they are like mine with their “demanding palates’ ‘.

To calm our sweet tooth we decided to try the Deconstructed Piña Colada coconut panna cotta, passion fruit fluid gel compressed pineapple and rum sorbet. The presentation was so stunning it looked like a piece of art that you really didn’t want to destroy by eating it. But after trying it you needed to finish it as it was very yummy with the perfect sweetness you could taste the coconut and the passion fruit gel was tangy and delicious. My husband ordered the “Edible Flowerpot” now we could understand the name – as it looks exactly like a terracotta flower pot but it is made of cake carrot, carrot fluid gel with carrot spaghetti, cream cheese frosting and coffee crumble such great presentation it was really hard to eat it. Both deserts were just how we like them not super sweet just the right amount of sweetness making both of them the perfect way to end the beautiful meal. My son ordered the organic chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream as chocolate is his best friend 🙂

It was a real Food Show honouring the name of the catering company as the presentation and the food were outstanding! The lovely friendly staff combined with the decor and ambience made this a true delightful meal. We highly recommend to come and pay a visit or more than one before they leave you will not regret it. Or if you are in the look out for the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, be it a birthday party, engagement party, a wedding or even a corporate event, then look no further this is the best place for that special occasion you have dreamed of.

Well done to The Food Show and everyone behind this lovely concept.
