Welcome to our first newsletter of November. I hope you all had a great half term, Halloween and Bonfire night and ready for back to school and the routine that it brings. We have been busy here at Kensington Mums HQ. Have you noticed? Kensington is already all Christmas-y with the Christmas lights all up in High Street Kensington Station.




Thanks to TFL we now have a new eco -friendly bus taking us in and around London. The kids love it and its now got 3 doors to get in and out!



Kensington Mums attended Salon du Chocolat in Kensington Olympia. It was a deliciously indulgent chocolate show featuring top chocolatiers and chocolate companies from around the world. What is there not to like?



We had a great time at the Royal Borough Kensington and Chelsea Motherhood session in October. So many multi – cultural Mums all sharing their unique stories on motherhood.  Using ‘I am a Mum and….’ from Story of Mum. Due to demand, we have added a new session in November. Check our events calendar for more information.


Portobello Market always makes a lovely family day out. There is nothing better than the fresh smell of fruits and vegetables.




Motherhood, its an International thing. We were so proud to see our pictures taken by the talented Captured by Juliana from our Kensington Mums Motherhood Exhibition ( which can be viewed here) featured at the Photographer’s Gallery on 18th October 2013 for the Story of Mum: Mum’s make date. Kensington Mums attended the Fireworks at Ravenscourt Park for a kids night out.  The night included lots of fireworks (off course), funfair, and family fun with superb fireworks which were catered towards little ones (less noisy and earlier) than the adults show.



Kensington Mums was invited to the Isis Education Centre part of the Royal Parks Foundation for a fun-filled discovery day with a Halloween Theme. Activities includes Colouring-in bat masks and finger bats, Feely boxes with yucky things inside and bat trail in the garden just to name a few.


Kensington Mums attended the Baby Show in Kensington Olympia. This is a great place for Mums and Bumps to find all the latest trends and essential in baby and toddler care all under one roof. Congratulations to our competition winner!




Kensington Mums events and meet ups

Due to popular demand, we have added a new session for our Motherhood Exhibition on Friday 22 November 2013 at Clare Gardens Children Centre from 10-12pm and Friday 29 November 2013 at Violet Melchett Children’s Centre (off Kings Road) There will be a free action, songs and rhyme time class for your little ones to enjoy. Kensington Mums is celebrating their 2nd Birthday over a 3 course seated dinner. Kensington Dads are also welcome. Make this a great night out and meet and mingle with local parents. What’s on for you and your little ones

Need help with your homework? Join the Homework Club at your local Kensington and Chelsea Library. From week commencing Monday 5 November there will be a Homework Club at four of the local libraries. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3.30pm to 5pm. For ages seven to 11 at Brompton Library, Chelsea Library, Kensington Central Library, North Kensington Library. Click here for more information.

National Gallery Magic Carpet Storytelling. Every Sunday there are two storytelling sessions from 10.30 till 11.00 and 11.30 till 12.00 for under 5′s. Meet in the Education Foyer, National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, WC2N 5DN. Places are limited and allocated on a first come basis up to an hour before the start. Intro to French. Free with crèche. Wednesdays 6 Nov- 4 Dec 2013 from 1-3pm at Clare Gardens Children’s Centre (349 Westbourne Park Road, W11 1EG). This course is designed for anyone who has little or no knowledge of the French language and would like to begin to converse in French. You will learn how to greet people and introduce yourself, how to order food and drinks and count from 1 to 30 as well as the days of the week and months of the year. Children aged 4 years are welcome to join this course. Learning a new language at any age offers vast opportunities and pleasure. To book, please call 020 7727 2725.

The London Transport Museum is always great for a family day out. To enter the Museum, you need to purchase a ticket  which gives you unlimited admission for 12 months from the date of purchase. Children under 16 are admitted free. Don’t forget to get the map at the door which the kids use to stamp as they go around and tour the Museum learning the different stages of transport in London. Their hands on gallery is great fun for little ones where they can climb aboard our fun versions of a bus, train, Tube and taxi. Worth paying them a visit during rainy days. The museum is very baby friendly and accessible with a buggy, changing facilities available on site.

For the Shopaholic Mamas. The London Designer Outlet has just opened in Wembley. Its a discounted mall focusing brands that are already cheap and offering them at discounted price.


Don’t miss Mini Moles babies group and Little Moles toddlers group this Wednesday 6th of November 2013 at the Museum of London.  These are FREE play sessions and run a couple of times per day as a one hour slot. Click here for more information.



Regent Street Christmas Light switch on Saturday 9th November 2013. This year, the lights will be switched on by Emmy award winning actor Ty Burrell (the voice of Mr Peabody in the 2014 animation Mr Peabody and Sherman) and Hollywood film director Tim Minkoff (Disney’s The Lion King). You can also expect live entertainment from X Factor starlet Leona Lewis, band Passenger and songstress Eliza Doolittle. Wrap up warm and enjoy the festive season with your little ones in tow.
