I hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed all the early Christmas events taking place around town. Stay tuned for Kensington Mums special Christmas newsletter filled with the latest in children activities over the festive season. In this week’s newsletter you will find more recommendations for early bookings for Christmas as well as some playgroup fun and some recommendations on evenings out with your other half. Kensington Mums is celebrating its first birthday this week. I am looking forwards in seeing some of you on our night out this Thursday. Our Baby and Toddler meet up at the Saatchi Gallery was loads of fun! The children really enjoyed getting messy, painting and colouring! Click here to see what we got up to!
Kensington Mums headed to the Duke of York Square, and got to meet Rudolf the red nosed reindeer. There was snow, Christmas lights were put on and as well as arts and crafts activities, sugar candy and Santa himself.
Kensington Mums headed to Oxford Street to see all the Christmas light lit up.
Kensington Mums attended the BBC Good Food Show. It was a day full of different flavours and tastes. They had demonstrations from MasterChef, The Great British Bake off as well Saturday Kitchen. It was great picking up some inspiring and easy to do recipes at home. There were loads of sampling from cheese, olive oils and off course cupcakes (my favourites) just to name a few. You could even order your turkey just in time for Christmas! The venue was very baby friendly with lifts and baby changing facilities.
Kensington Mums enjoyed a family day out in Brighton. Only a train ride away, seeing the seaside and walking along Brighton Pier was well worth the trip.
Kensington Mums celebrates its one year birthday! Thank you for being part of it all. I would love to see you join me and celebrate on Thursday 15th November. Location, surprise. £30pp including dinner, drinks and a vibrant atmosphere. There will be a surprise give away for everyone, its a great way to meet other Mums and the Mum behind Kensington Mums (moi!). Back by popular demand KM Mother and Baby Outing to visit the Saatchi Gallery on Friday 23rd November 2012. Meeting outside the Saatchi Gallery at 10.30, tour starts at 11am.‘Gaiety is the Most Outstanding Feature of the Soviet Union: Art from Russia’ is the first exhibition of contemporary Russian art at the Saatchi Gallery. This large survey show features 18 artists working in diverse ways across the mediums of painting, photography, sculpture and installation. Once tour is over you are welcome to stay and play and mingle with the group in the Education Room of the Saatchi Gallery. Toddlers will be provided with materials to get creative! Light from the Middle East: New Photography at Victoria and Albert Museum. Opens 13 November 2012- 7 April 2013.This exhibition presents work by artists from across the Middle East (spanning North Africa to Central Asia), living in the region and in diaspora. It explores the ways in which these artists investigate the language and techniques of photography. Some use the camera to record or bear witness, while others subvert that process to reveal how surprisingly unreliable a photograph can be. The works range from documentary photographs and highly staged tableaux to images manipulated beyond recognition. Climbers and Creepers at Kew, Royal Botanical Garden. Climbers and Creepers is Britain’s first interactive botanical play zone. World Prematurity Day 2012. Saturday 17 November 2012 is World Prematurity Day and this year Bliss is getting behind the international campaign to raise awareness of the 15 million babies who are born too soon each year. 60,000 of these are born in the UK and we want everyone to join the campaign to raise awareness of the issues these babies and their families face.We’re joining with other organisations from around the globe to raise awareness and change the lives of babies born too soon everywhere. to see how you can get involved.
Christmas Fair at Chiswick Town Hall. Organised by our friends West London Mum and West London Tots on Thursday November 22, 2012 from 2-7pm (£2 entrance fee, donation to Great Ormond Street Hospital). There will be a great selection of toys, clothing, jewellery, crafts, gadgets and more!! The fair will feature face painting for the kids, or a portrait in a wintery grotto and lots of great gifts to get you sorted this holiday season. Come out and support local businesses and Great Ormond Street Hospital while enjoying a glass of mulled wine and some yummy nibbles. There will also be a raffle with all proceeds going to GOSH.

Skate at Somerset House opens 16 November 2012 – 6 January 201.Celebrate the festive season in style at London’s most glamorous ice rink. Click here for more information. Also check out club nights, for your date night with your other half, it sounds great! They also have the penguin club where children under 8 years old can skate in a safe environment to take their first steps on the ice at the training rink, and those over 8 years old can take part in Skate Lessons.
Southbank Centre Christmas Market will be open from Friday 16 November 2012 – Monday 24 December 2012. FREE. Wooden chalets filled with festive food, drink, gifts and treats run along the twinkling riverside. Ice Rink Canary Wharf, is already open until 13th Jan 2013. Head to Canary Wharf during the festive season for the children to enjoy a range of free festive activities during all weekends in December and Christmas Eve throughout Canary Wharf’s malls including art and craft workshops, festive face painting and a magical treasure hunt. These are all FREE. Also, don’t forget to visit Santa’s Grotto (from 1-24 December 2012) as well as an amazing show. We go there every year and highly recommend it!

Outdoor Ice Skating at Westfield Stratford City. Skate under the stars in the awesome surroundings of Europe’s largest shopping centre at Westfield Stratford City’s Outdoor Ice Rink in Market Square. Also don’t miss Santa’s Grotto at Westfield Stratford City.
Meet a real-life Rudolf every Saturday at Covent Garden Piazza from 12pm to 4pm. Kids can hand-feed and pet them, and Dasher and Dancer et al have promised to stay still for some great photo opportunities.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has teamed up with TRAID – the textile recycling charity – they are running a scheme to recycle your unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories.
