I am very proud to share with you all that Kensington Mums has been voted into the Top 100 winners of the MumsClub 2012 Awards!! A big thank you to you my lovely KM readers for all support I have received.


Kensington Mums had a lovely pamper session last Monday with CocoNail Bar in London’s Portobello Road. Thank you to all the lovely Mums who came along to some well deserved time off. The staff were so lovely and we all had a lovely time getting pampered! Sushi and drinks was served, conversations flowing and magazines to keep you entertained with the latest celebrity trends. What more can we ask for? Coconail Bar offers a superior hand and foot pampering as well as luxurious Fish Spa. If that isn’t enough, Coco Nail Bar is also fully-licensed bar serving champagne, margaritas, mojitos and Martinis. They cater for busy Mums as well and provide Mummy Baby Morning which is complimentary and available from 10am to 2pm on Tuesdays but by appointment only. The usual school run for some Kensington Mums, Dads and carers was interrupted last week due to a fire in Kensington which destroyed a penthouse, full article from the Kensington and Chelsea Times.




Kensington Mums attended action songs and rhymes at Clare Garden Children’s Centre. The centre in the north of the borough delivers a wide range of services and preventative programmes that help improve outcomes for children and families. They run a range  of drop-ins, parent sessions, support services and activities for families with very young children. For the full program can be seen for the north of the borough here and here for the south of the borough.

Kensington Mums attended baby rhyme time at Kensington Central Libray.  Important notice, the Children’s Library will be closed from Monday 8 October for approximately seven weeks for refurbishment works. During this time there will be a small book collection for the under-fives and public computers for children will be available in the adult lending library on the ground floor. Also as of Monday 8 October baby rhyme time will be happening on Mondays, with a new time 2 to 2.20pm and storytime will be on Thursdays, 10 to 10.20am.


Kensington Mums Mummy and Baby/toddler meet up. FREE. Come with your little one for a morning play time session and meet some local Mums at the Chelsea Theatre (just off the Kings Road, SW10 0DR)  on Friday 12th October at 11am-12pm. Please get in touch and register your interest. This playgroup is aimed for under 5s, Siblings welcome.

The next first aid course will be on Wednesday 24th October  at Whole Foods Market, Kensington at 63-97 Kensington High Street, London W8 5SE. Kensington Mums has teamed up First Aid for Life. The course will be thought by the Geraldine will be teaching First Aid for babies and toddlers exclusively to Kensington Mums. You will each receive a comprehensive First Aid manual and certificates can be provided if required. There will ample baby and child mannequins for you to get your hands on to practice on. The course lasts for 3 hours and covers most common childhood injuries and major illnesses. Topics includes choking and drowning as well as what to do if your child is unconscious and how to deal with burns, head injuries, fitting and bleeding. The classes cost £70 per person and partners and Daddies are welcome to attend. Time: 7-10pm. A few more places are available. To book please email me at [email protected]
Kensington Mums introduces Baby and Toddler yoga class. FREE. Friday October 26  at 11-11.45 am. Chelsea Theatre. Parent and baby/toddler yoga is the way for new
beings.This revolutionary method lays deep foundations for physical self-confidence. It also produces emotional and mental wellbeing. The result? A secure, happy and fulfilled baby, off to the best possible start in life. Alice Morgan, anthropologist and mother of three teaches parents and their

babies in a series of specially adapted yoga classes inspired by cultures from around the world. Suitable for 0-18 months and 18 months – 3 years old. Please RSVP to book your spot, limited places available.
This half term join Kensington Mums for a Mummy and Baby/toddler meet up. FREECome with your little one for a morning play time session at the Saatchi Gallery (just off the Kings Road) on Friday 2nd November at 11am-12pm. Please get in touch and register your interest.



Back back popular demand KM Mother and Baby Outing to visit the Saatchi Gallery on Friday 23rd November 2012. Meeting outside the Saatchi Gallery at 10.30, tour starts at 11am. Once tour is over you are welcome to stay and play and mingle with the group in the Education Room of the Saatchi Gallery. Toddlers will be provided with materials to get creative! There will also be a mini photoshoot session by a family photographer.£5/adult. Child free.

Kensington Mums Bootcamp will be on Saturday mornings 10-11am in Holland Park. Meeting at 9.45am at the main entrance of Holland Park (High Street Kensington entrance, facing Odeon Cinema). Classes will commence once we have enough Mums registered. In collaboration with Scandinavian Fitness, Kensington Mums will be with you so we can all get fit together! If you are like me and you want to work out and feel like you are having fun with other Mums, then I invite you to come and join in the most social form of training. Get in the best shape of your life all in the company of other Kensington Mums! Former Olympic Athlete Linda Hedenstrom will be training you in Holland Park  on a Saturday starting 10-11am. Drop your kids to their activity and come and to yours or just let your other half look after your little one so you can come and work out. Halloween Family Extravaganza! Sunday, 4th November 2012 at the Chelsea Theatre (SW10 0DR) from 2-5pm. Amanda’s Action Club and Kensington Mums have combined forces to bring you a Halloween Party like no other! Come and celebrate with your whole family at our fun-filled, dance spook-tacular at the Chelsea Theatre (just off the King’s Road).  A packed line-up of entertainment guarantees there’ll be something for everyone from tiny tots to teenagers and mums and dads too!  Tickets cost just £10 per head (children under 1 go free!). Family Studio: The Big Draw at the Royal Academy of Arts on 14 October 2012, from 11-12pm. FREE. As part of ‘The Big Draw’, learn more about the RA’s Collection of casts and sketch in the historic Life Room of the Royal Academy Schools.

The Tear Thief at Little Angel Theatre until 4th Nov 2012. A heart-warming modern fairy tale of a magical world perfectly brought to life by Little Angel’s stunning puppetry. Relaxed Performance: Saturday 13 October, 3.30pm. Designed for adults or children who might find it difficult to sit quietly and still for an entire performance, or who are uncomfortable with sudden lighting changes or loud noises.Family Gala performance: Sunday 14 October, 3pm (tickets £25). Join us for an extra special performance and then go behind the scenes and meet the puppets, with drinks and nibbles after the show, plus a special goody bag to take away with you. Suitable for minimum age 3. National Gallery Magic Carpet Storytelling. Every Sunday there are two storytelling sessions from 10.30 till 11.00 and 11.30 till 12.00 for under 5′s. Meet in the Education Foyer, National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, WC2N 5DN. Places are limited and allocated on a first come basis up to an hour before the start. Did you know there is World Space Week, on 4-10 October 2012? It is an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition. School maybe planning an event for World Space Week. For more information, please click here.

Circle of Tales at Lyric Theatre on 13 October at 11am & 1pm. This is a tale from long ago, before there were any stories at all, told with wood and wire puppets and music played on traditional African instruments. Click here for more information and bookings.

Family Day at the Design Museum on Sunday 14 October from 11am – 4pm.  Bring the whole family along to the Design Museum for an exciting programme of activities including: The Colour Chaser workshop with Designer in Residence Yuri Suzuki. Tales from storyteller Vanessa Woolf. Recommended for children aged 5 – 11. Family Day activities are FREE with museum ticket entry (£11/adults). Under 12s FREE.

Play Tuesdays at the Royal Museums Greenwich every Tuesday in October at 10.30, 11.30, 13.00, 14.00. FREE. Young children can have fun with their families as they explore the Museum through making, music, dance and drama. Please note, these are timed sessions; you must collect free tickets from the Admissions Desk.
Frieze London 11–14 October 2012 in Regent’s Park. Visit Frieze London in October and take part in the contemporary art event of the year. Celebrating its tenth edition, the fair presents over 170 of the most interesting galleries working today from Berlin to New York and London to Tokyo. Click here for more information and bookings.
