London now definitely feels a lot like Christmas, with Regent’s Street and Oxford street all lit up. We have had a week of celebration here over at Kensington Mums HQ. Read below to find out why. This week’s newsletter includes more ice rings around London to enjoy with the family, charity Christmas Bazaars and fairs to help those in need during the festive season and family workshops to enjoy at the weekend. Enjoy reading this week’s newsletter and don’t forget to check out our new events and meet ups.

We had another celebration for Kensington Mums second birthday last week over a lovely mums and bumps coffee morning with such amazing Mums an inspiring stories. Motherhood is definitely an International thing.



Kensington Mums visited the Ideal Home Show for Christmas at Earls court.  There was a variety of exhibitionist all under one roof, the venue is buggy friendly with baby changing facility on site. Santa and his elves were also there!



Kensington Mums events and meet ups

The next Motherhood session will be held this Friday 22 November 2013 at Clare Gardens Children Centre from 10-12pm. There will be a free action, songs and rhyme time class for your little ones to enjoy. We are also having another one on Friday 29 November 2013 at Violet Melchett Children’s Centre (off Kings Road). Our coffee mornings are getting more popular, so we have decided to make them monthly giving all Mums the opportunity to meet and mingle with the elite members of Kensington Mums.  The next coffee morning is on Wednesday 4th of Dec 2012 (10am-12pm). Mums and Mums to be are all welcome to join. The lovely Ania has kindly volunteered to host the morning in her home. Please email us ([email protected]) with heading ‘Dec coffee morning’ to be sent more information and get in touch if you would like to host our next morning coffee in January. Please note the coffee mornings are limited numbers.

What’s on for you and your little ones 

Going back to work, or returning to study? The Masbro Children’s Centre Outreach Workers provide practical and emotional support to parents and carers. If you would like advice or support contact Sally on 0207 605 0191 to arrange an appointment, either in your home or at the Centre. Masbro Children’s Centre works closely with local agencies and training providers to offer parents advice and information on training and returning to work. Kensington Mums loves Oumnia Boutique. Wrap up warm this Christmas in their unique and colourful pashminas. They make great gift ideas for you or a loved one.  You will find Oumnia stall on display on Saturday 23rd Nov at the Jumeriah Hotel on Sloane Street for the AMAR Christmas Bazaar (free entry) from 12- 4pm and on Monday 25th of November at the Madarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge (free entry) from 10- 5pm during Give a Child a Toy Christmas Bazaar.


Baby rhyme time and storytime at your local library. Mondays, storytime 10am-10.20am at Kensington Central Library. Baby rhyme time, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 10am-10.20am. These are always fun packed 20min sessions for under 5s and their carers. Click here for full timetable and other local libraries in the borough.



AMAR’s Winter Lunch, Fashion Show & Fair at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower. Saturday 23 November 2013. From 12pm – 4pm. Tickets for lunch must be booked in advance. This event is raising funds for AMAR’s Widows Project, supporting vulnerable women in Iraq. AMAR runs training centres that teach a range of skills to women, including sewing, hairdressing and computer skills, as well as running kindergarten and tutoring classes for their children. AMAR has taught literacy and employable skills to 1,000 widows and divorcees. We need your help to continue this important work. AMAR has provided professional health and education on a sustained and lasting basis, and today delivers over one million medical consultations each year through a network of 45 health centres in Iraq and Lebanon, benefiting a catchment area of over 600,000 men, women and children. Meet Santa at London Zoo. Until 24th of December. Visit ZSL London Zoo this Christmas and take part ina magical Meet Santa experience, where children have the opportunity to meet the man-in-red himself to make sure he knows what’s on their wish lists this year and join in with a whole host of festive activities. First Step Together Association invites you to a fundraising brunch at Maroush V on Sunday 24th November from 10-1pm to help raise money for children with special needs. Click on image for more information.

London Christmas Fair at the Kensington Town Hall. Wed 27 – 28 November 2013. This year, the queen of the kitchen Mary Berry will be opening the fair, on 27th November starting at 5.00 pm. The annual event is in its 19th year at the Kensington Town Hall and as always proceeds go to British Red Cross both here in the UK and overseas. With 80 stalls, selling clothes, food, jewelleries, accessories, home wares – find perfect gifts for all the family under one roof. Click here for more information.


Design A Magical Hat at Victoria and Albert Museum. Sunday 24 November. The V&A is full of wonderful things, including lots of hats. In the book ‘Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day’, Clara and her family visit the museum for a special day out. Design your own magical hat inspired by the V&A.
