Motherhood by Michelle de Biolley

How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother of two teenage boys?
At 14 and 16 my sons have reached an age where they are getting self sufficient. I therefore have more free time on my hands. But still something has to give and at the moment it is my social life…luckily I have very close friends that I can rely on to still have fun.
What was your inspiration behind your brand: Almost Essential?
The inspiration behind it was to help busy women (and men) manage their life better and give them direct access to tried and tested services. No need to ring around to get a recommendation for a good plumber or upholsterer ( for example), we have more than 100 services which will help you run your life smoothly; I have tried and tested all the services personally. I have also selected a list of unique gifts. No need to waste your time anymore to find the best service, this is the Essential stress free solution.
What top tips would you give to any mum on starting her own business?
Start small, research the market you want to enter, and grow organically. Believe in what you are doing is the most important of all.
What are your top beauty tips for busy modern Kensington Mums?
Have a monthly facial with peel as I recommend on the Almost Essential website. On a daily basis, I dont leave my house without putting the tinted day face cream from Dr Hauschka (also  recommended on the AE website), it gives you a really glowing complexion and has no nasty ingredients.

What is your favourite hang out in London with your children?
We have several favourite hangouts, depending on what we feel like! Hache on the fulham road for burgers, Cambio de Tercio for the best tapas in town, Dozo for the most  delicious and freshest sushis . We love staying in our neighbourhood.

How do you define quality ‘me-time’?
Lunch with my girl friends and yoga
What does motherhood represent to you?
Motherhood has made me a much more tolerant, patient and forgiving person. Until I became a Mother I did not know what unconditional love meant.

What do you love most about London?
I just love London and everything which goes with it, its architecture, its parks, everything being so easily accessible, you can now order dinner online! and above all, I love that it has kept its neighbourhood atmosphere with the local butcher, newsagent, restaurants. Just missing good bakeries!

With the summer holidays fast approaching, what has been an amazing family holiday for you?
We love going to Harbour Island in the Bahamas where you can have a very simple life , swimming, fishing, walk on the beach and live in kaftans and flip flop all day; a great treat to look forward to.

Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first time Mum?
Embrace it, enjoy it, time goes so fast, before you know it, they have their own life! Motherhood is about unconditional love; it can be frustrated at time so don’t feel guilty about having “me” time, it will help you replenish your patience.
