1. Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.

Hi, I am Lucy Choi! Mother to two gorgeous boys Thomas (5) and Harrison (2) and founder and owner of Lucy Choi London, a luxury footwear brand.  I took the risk to launch my own brand in 2012 when I saw a gap in the market. This was the same year my first son Thomas was born! Life is crazy with two young boys and running my own business but I would not change anything.

  1. How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?

Like every working mother it is never easy.  I think it is harder as a woman to have it all and trying to juggle so many different things everyday.  I work just as many hours as I did before I had children but manage on less sleep! I always walk my son to school even if I worked late the night before. It is my special time with him. I also try and spend the evenings when I can with my family and dedicate some quality time with my sons before their bedtime every night. My weekends are also precious time spent with my family and we make sure we get out and do fun things together.

  1. What top tips would you give to any working mum?

I never do anything by halves. I believe in just going for things and never looking back. As a working mum, it’s the only way to handle everything.  I faced one of the biggest challenges of my career when I launched my brand in 2012 and gave birth to my first child. I then opened my flagship store in August 2015 and gave birth to my second son just five months later. If you want to do it, you just have to go for it!

  1. What do you love most about London?  Do you have a favourite spot with your children?

I love living in London. With all of the different cultures across the city, there is always such a great buzz everywhere. I enjoy walking around London and experiencing all the wonderful restaurants we have. I am a real foody and l love nothing more than eating out with my family and friends. My favourite spot to hang out with the children is the Princess Diana memorial playground. My boys always love going there! So do I!

  1. How do you define quality ‘me-time’?

When I am travelling alone for business. On long-haul flights, I can eat, watch a film and then sleep! It’s utter bliss!

  1. What is your favourite & least favourite thing about parenthood?

Watching my boys growing up, progressing and developing their fun and quirky characters….and I love their honesty. Their comments always put a smile on my face! The balance of discipline is always a hard one. There are times when you need to get angry with them and show them who is boss!

  1. Tell us something people don’t know about you.

I am always on the go but I cannot drive. I get taxis everywhere!

  1. Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first time Mum?

Enjoy the moment and cherish what you have.  The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

Since being a mother, I have also learnt that there are some things I just have to let go and not always strive for perfection. I used to try to make my house look spotless but not anymore! I just try to enjoy the precious moments I have with my children and family. Don’t be too hard on yourself either. Just always do your very best in everything you do. No-one can fault you for that!

  1.  I’m a mum and……

an entrepreneur but I am NOT perfect!

  1. Finally, please let us know what you love most about Kensington Mums?

I love that they understand Mums so well, whether you are a full time one or combining the mother role with a job. Both have their own unique set of challenges and delights. Kensington Mums embrace every element of being a Mother.

Bringing together a network of liked minded mothers is also a very smart idea. I love it and the events, talks and articles are fantastic.
