Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.
Hello Kensington Mamas, my name is Alishia. By day i am a freelance marketing consultant, gin maker and owner of M0THER Gifts and by night i am mum to my two darling daughters, Noa aged 5 and Effie aged 5 months.
2. How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?
Can i tell you when i find out? Haha. I suppose a tremendous amount of mum guilt when im late for school pick up or have to work late of a night, but followed by overwhelming joy and emotion when either of them does something new, comes in for a cuddle or just finally eat their veggies! Working flexible around the kids has its huge advantages which i am so thankful for.
3. What top tips would you give to any working mum?
I think firstly, done is better than perfection. Nothing is ever perfect in life so just go with what you’ve got and finish that article, collection or photo edit!! You can always go back over.
Secondly, and most usually harder said than done- try to organise yourself and set yourself a to do list daily or weekly to help you stay on track of your jobs, projects or tasks. I love doing this and feel a huge sense of satisfaction when i can cross them off.
4. What do you love most about London? Do you have a favourite spot with your children?
Ahhh being based in Liverpool we don’t get down to London as often as we used too. But when we did venture down we would love a walking around the parks, soaking in the atmosphere at the West End and taking in a good show. My daughters favourite is Wicked and Hamilton.
5. How do you define quality ‘me-time’?
You’ll often find me floating away with my thoughts in the bath and a good lush facemask. I don’t get much time on my own with working and parenting full time – just some quiet time with my own thoughts (preferably in a spa) is all i need ha!
6. What is your favourite & least favourite thing about parenthood?
Having only recently brought a new life into the world i would say lack of sleep is my least favourite at the moment, i don’t think ive had more than 2hrs uninterrupted sleep in the past 5 months so thats one thing i definitely do miss! But watching my two girls grow is the best thing to have ever happened to me. They literally are besotted with each other and its just a beautiful thing to watch. Life before just doest even come close to this feeling we have right now.
7. Tell us something people don’t know about you.
I’m pretty much an open book but i have a keen interest in past life regression and believe we travel from our past lives with our soul families to overcome issues and learn specific life lessons …….. its a very niche passion of mine which i love and got involved in after suffering two miscarriages last year. But other than that, i used to play the clarinet when i was younger and can speak moderate mandarin – nǐ hǎo
8. Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first time Mum?
There is no one size fits all approach. Create your own type of hood and don’t be afraid to just ‘be’. Whether thats being you, being in the moment, being calm or just being totally hormonal – you are all your baby needs.
9. I’m a mum and……
