Kensington Mums reviews

Kensington Mums had the lovely opportunity to try this FAB website which helps you with the weekly meal planning and best of all it also helps overall on what you spend for food plus also minimises any food waste. What more could you ask for? Yes, I know, for all mums to have that personal Chef at home! At least with FiveDinners cooking will even be fun as they assist you with the tedious part of the meal planning!

What is FiveDinners?

Theo Michaels, after Masterchef in 2014, quit his job and became a professional chef, he has written now 5 books and you might have spotted him on TV. Theo and Anna both came up with this brilliant concept and we are very thankful they did.

FiveDinners is the perfect website that will help you with all your meal plans. So it will be one less thing to worry about. It will help you economise when food shopping and most importantly reduce food waste making every busy mum’s life a little easier. Well done Theo and Anna Michaels.

The Kensington Mums Experience

At first it took me a little to understand the concept and be ready to try it out as I was thinking I don’t have time to invest in checking this website. However, I am so glad I was able to do so as this has changed my life and has allowed me to save so much time, money and also reduce the food waste that was even bothering me at some point. With FiveDinners, I can now enjoy some “me time” that all mums well deserve and also some pampering treatments due to the money I have been able to save! Now if I didn’t convince you with what I just said – then I don’t know what will 🙂

The whole concept is simply genius! The price of the membership outweighs the value and how much money you will be saving. For as low as c. £4 per month you can actually save money, reduce food waste and actually enjoy cooking dinner. Yes, you read correctly cooking dinner and looking forward to it.

If you are a working mum like myself, becoming a member of FiveDinners is exactly what you need – I remember having to even dread the fact of thinking what was I going to cook and when I thought of a dish and went to the kitchen realising that I was missing almost all the ingredients I needed and so that meal idea needed to be discarded. I was not going to have time to do school runs on time due to the work meeting planned and so not able to go to the shop to get the missing ingredients. Does this sound familiar? Have you been in this situation? Well, now all has changed as with FiveDinners I am able to organise my whole week in advance selecting the dinners even with my husband (minimising any complaints as I used to get i.e.: “are we eating pasta with veggies again?” ). Now on Sunday night, when kids are sleeping I am taking some time to do our menus for the week. I can tell you I am enjoying scrolling through all the delicious recipes. The best thing is that I am learning about new dishes and trying out some recipes I have never done before. It is super cool and fun to do and I involve my husband, actually I tell him if he fancies trying out this or that, and read out aloud some of the dishes, while he is watching telly, so he also takes part on the planning and then can’t even say a word or complain when I answer to his famous question: “Whats for dinner?”. Love it!

It is very simple and fantastic to use. You can search for a specific meat ie.: beef & lamb, chicken, fish, pork, shellfish, pasta rice & noodles, if you are gluten free, 30 mins meals, 500kcal or less, dairy free, family faves, one pot, vegetarian, etc. You can create and save your own meal plans, add your favorite recipes to the meal plan including your preferred serving size that you can always amend accordingly on individual recipes, if need be. Each recipe comes super well explained with a breakdown of the prep time, cook time, servings portions. Sections with the ingredients you need, the utensils you will need to use, step by step instructions, flexitarian notes (suggestions of any possible alterations to the recipe), nutrition per serving data, and some suggestions of other dishes that are similar to the one selected. I mean what else you need?
They also offer help using the site as you can have access to videos explaining the main features which I suggest you visit so you make proper use of all the features they have. Plus you can contact them if you need any additional help via completing a form, texting them or also contacting them via a hotline.

Once you have selected your five dinners and trust me this can take some time as they have so many and delicious options and you can find yourself browsing through the recipes for hours as it happens to me. It actually can become addictive – I am warning you! Then once this step is completed you can go save your meal plan and then you can access by clicking on the “Shopping List” icon the shopping list as a window will pop-up with all the ingredients you need for the whole week making this the best thing ever not to go missing any ingredient and prepare in advance for the whole week. Avoiding any last minute trips to the shop. You can then print the shopping list and tick off the ingredients you have and only keep the ones you need to buy. You can also print recipes if you wish to do so. Just simply like that you are now off to a stress-free cooking life saving time, food waste and also money. I highly suggest when preparing your meal plan to think of ways to economise such as if you’re planning on having a meal on Monday with mash you might want to do a little extra for a Shepherds pie you can do on Wednesday and so reduce food waste.

Imagine not having to spend hours thinking about what to cook for dinner after a long day of working and you also need to help out your son with his homework? Plus you have also a huge pile of shirts to iron for your husband and also some clean laundry to fold? Been there and done that! I am sure you can all relate to this scenario. However, now with FiveDinners this is all in the past as you can easily go to the kitchen spend literally 10 min preparing the One Pot Lemon Chicken and Orzo supper whilst helping your son with his homework and then off to ironing and folding clothes as in 30 min dinner will be ready. You didn’t have to think about what to cook and since you have all the ingredients you got on Sunday you didn’t have to beg your oldest son to run to the shop for some lemons. So you even save time, petro and you got all done. Plus compliments from everyone in the family as dinner was delicious!! Needless to say, your husband even complimented you on the fact that you have lowered substantially the food money allowance. Therefore, you can proceed to book in your well deserved treatment to pamper yourself.

So don’t wait any longer get everything done at the house, for work, for the kids including your shopping list with no hassle no headaches and compliments from all your family. Well done once again Theo and Anna!
