At Mathnasium, we believe that every child has the ability to be successful in maths.
It’s a matter of teaching it the way that makes sense to them. When maths makes sense, children leap ahead – whether they started out far behind or already ahead in maths.
Mathnasium offers the finest mathematics instruction worldwide. We utilise a time-tested approach that provides initial and ongoing Assessments, customised Learning Plans, personalised instruction and guided practice to build each student’s maths understanding and skills.
Today, Mathnasium is a global community – teaching children maths in a way that makes sense to them, in more than 1,100 centres worldwide.
As students gain a greater understanding of maths, they become excited about the subject. Excitement leads to passion and passion leads to growth. At Mathnasium, we have helped tens of thousands of children grow to not only understand maths but to love it as well.
We look forward to working with you and helping to build a successful future for your child.

The Mathnasium Method™
“Children don’t hate maths. What they hate is being confused, intimidated and embarrassed by maths. With understanding comes passion, and with passion comes growth – a treasure is unlocked.” – Larry Martinek, creator of the Mathnasium Method
Assessments
We meet students where they are and take them where they need to go. All Mathnasium students start by taking a customised assessment which pinpoints their learning needs. Mathnasium’s unique assessment process determines (with great accuracy) exactly what each child knows and what they need to learn.
Customised Learning Plan
The Learning Plan identifies the maths concepts to meet the specific learning goals for your child. We then design a customised Learning Plan for teaching the concepts your child needs to master. We build maths knowledge upon what they already know – this helps students learn quickly and boosts their confidence right away. We use a combination of proprietary materials and instruction techniques to ensure your child masters these concepts.
Specially Trained, Caring People Who Teach
We know how to teach your child maths. Mathnasium’s specially trained Instructors implement the Learning Plan and work with each student to ensure they master the material. We want to be there when the learning happens – all teaching takes place during the Mathnasium session and we don’t assign homework. Our maths Instructors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps students thrive and learn.
We will help your child overcome homework frustration. We help children understand the homework assignment so they feel better prepared to complete the work at home – underscoring their understanding of concepts and transforming homework frustration into a welcome challenge.
The results are transformative – families will see measurable changes in attitude, confidence and school progress.
Why Mathnasium?
For a child’s overall pattern of maths education, where does Mathnasium fit in? Schools are the primary education provider; Mathnasium is a supplemental education provider. The distinction is that the primary provider issues grades, whereas Mathnasium does not. We affect their grades in a positive way, and our role is to supplement what kids are learning in school.
As a supplemental education provider, Mathnasium is structured as a Learning Centre rather than a tutorial service. A tutor’s job is to help a student get through tonight’s homework and Friday’s test. Mathnasium does provide support in terms of homework and upcoming tests, however, our primary role as a learning centre is to delve into the reasons why tonight’s homework is such a huge issue.
Knowledge Gaps
Usually, the reasons are a series of knowledge gaps that students have incurred over the years. Nearly every student we assess has some gaps. They can be anywhere from six months to several years behind.
Long Term Success
As a Learning Centre, our role at Mathnasium is strategic: a long-term proposition. Our job is to ferret out those gaps and then supplement students’ education by filling in those gaps over time. This is why our assessment process is so important; it helps us pinpoint these gaps and provides us with a foundation on which we build the student’s program at Mathnasium.
It’s important to keep this long-term objective in mind. If we just worked on tonight’s homework, we might get through it and help them come up with the answers, but we wouldn’t be teaching these kids anything in the long run. There is a distinction between a tutoring service and our role as a Learning Centre. We are not here to parallel exactly what’s going on in school. We are here to supplement it.
At its very core, Mathnasium’s mission is to offer a lasting solution to kids’ math problems. This is the place where kids come to solve their problems in maths. It’s when we function as a learning centre that we get a remarkable increase in student performance. Mathnasium provides excellent instruction and a premier teaching method.
