Swimming is an amazing sport that will have a huge impact on your life and can help you gain some invaluable life skills. Let’s take a look at just a few things swimming can help you with in life.
Team Work Makes the Dream Work
Have you ever wondered why most of our students are enrolled into 2:1 classes? Well, it’s because working in pairs enables a higher rate of development in children. This is because children love a challenge and having them both swim together gives them the opportunity to challenge the other one as well as motivate the other child in the class.
Working in a team can help us to achieve a lot in life and is a way in which we can achieve strong results.
It’s a Process
Swimming is a process. Like many things in life, swimming is about learning the process and it requires a lot of patience. At Swimming Nature, we are all about technique and getting the technique right which means that learning to swim is a process that takes practice and patience in order to succeed.
Anne Wilson Schaef, psychologist and author famously said, “Life is a process, we are a process, the universe is a process.”
Failure Will Lead to Success
People today are so afraid of making mistakes, but in life, mistakes are a way for us to learn and become better at what we do. Richard Branson once said, “Don’t be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.” It’s the same when it comes to swimming. The initial learning of the swimming strokes is challenging and there will very often be times when you fail, but what separates good and the better is the fact that the better make mistakes, but keep on trying until those mistakes turn into success. In one of our blog posts, Mark Foster goes through some amazing tips to help perfect swimming strokes. This article can be found here.
Consistency is Key
This is a difficult one as consistency relies heavily on self-discipline. If you don’t have self-discipline, then you’ll find it very difficult to be consistent. With Swimming Nature’s lessons, they are at the same time every week in order to get students into a good routine causing them to be more self-disciplined meaning that consistency is made easier.
Dwayne Johnson said, “Success isn’t always about greatness. It is about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come.”
