Would you like to teach your kids making pasta while supporting other kids who are currently getting medical treatments?

On Sunday, 11th February from 4 pm we will be hosting a series of Kids Pasta Party at Chelsea Creperie based in Chelsea, West London

Join, make pasta and have fun with us while supporting kids in hospital.

We will teach your kids how to make simple and delicious homemade pasta shapes from scratch – a special regional pasta Southern Italian shape.

How is the class structured?

The kids will be greeted with healthy and light snacks, whilst the mums can order tea from the cafe upstairs. We will make everything from scratch using organic and local flours.

At the end of the class, the children take home a healthy recipe card, a goodie bag and a bag full of their pasta masterpieces.

What do the kids do during the class?

We will teach kids how to make a simple and healthy pasta dough with only 2 ingredients. Once we have done that, we will make the pasta shape: Maccherroni Calabresi.

The kids will have the recipe at home with some instructions on how to cook and serve it.

The class will last approximately 30 minutes and it will be a lot of fun for the kids.

About the event

The idea of this fundraising event came from a local Italian Pasta Maker, Vittoria Valeriana Veltri, who was super enthusiastic about the Smile And Make Pasta project and felt the rush to help and contribute to the crowdfunding campaign making it visible in London town.

About the project

Smile And Make Pasta is a fun pasta workshop designed for kids who are getting cancer treatment. Initially crowdfunding in Italy.

With Smile and Make Pasta we would like to create for the children a sense of being able to feel “at home away from home” while they are in treatment. The workshops will give the kids the chance to both learn how to make pasta and have fun as well as eating their own creations.

The magic art of being able to transform flour and water into shapes such as tagliatelle, farfalle, gnocchi, apart from being an interesting game for the kids, will help them with their memory, to improve their manual skills and grow in harmony with others.

This is why it is so important to pass on this art to the youngsters, involving them in the “kitchen”, just like our Italian Nonnas were doing with us using simple cooking techniques, focusing on the importance of eating fresh food, seasonal and local wherever possible. Also, during our workshops we will teach them how to set up a table providing useful information regarding utensils, kitchen tools and pasta methods.

Smile & Make Pasta’s main objective is not just involving children in making pasta, and thus learning from what our planet offers, but using the magic world of pasta to create joyful and playful moments taking them out of their hospital routine.

This project will combine fun and entertaining moments with the educational experience in the kitchen for kids in treatment.

During the workshops, the kids will be able to learn:

  • What makes this art / craft special?
  • What are the different types of flour?
  • How to create pasta shapes using their own hands
  • Different pasta shapes, history and where they are from
  • How to cook simple pasta sauces
  • How to cook and plate pasta dishes

At the end of the workshops, the kids can taste their pasta creations soon after the workshop takes place.
