South Kensington’s The Ampersand Hotel launches new Jurassic Afternoon Tea
With its close proximity to the cultural powerhouses of the Exhibition Road museums, The Ampersand Hotel’s highly revered Afternoon Tea series has historically always taken inspiration from its neighbourhood and following on from the success of its Science Afternoon Tea, it is excited to announce its new Jurassic Afternoon Tea.
As Dippy the Diplodocus returns to his London home after his 5-year country-wide tour, The Ampersand Hotel’s Jurassic-themed tea takes its cue from the time he and his fellow dinosaurs roamed the earth over 200 million years ago. Alongside savoury treats such as Mini hot dogs, T-Rex cheese straws, Dinosaur jam sandwiches and homemade scones, expect a Raspberry & lemon crémeux volcano eruption, a Dark chocolate & caramel dinosaur egg nest, a Mixed berries T-Rex footprint macaron, a White chocolate & blackcurrant Jurassic mountain mousse and a Mini dinosaur biscuit & milk chocolate fossil. Vegetarian and gluten-free versions of all tea sets are also available.
Whilst children enjoy their accompanying hot chocolate, adults can sit back and indulge in a more grown-up offering comprising the choice of either a glass of Charles Heidsieck Brut NV or rosé Champagne, a glass of alcohol-free Wild Idol sparkling rosé or one of a selection of specially created cocktails including a Dino Sour (gin, white wine syrup, lemon juice, FAIR passion fruit liqueur, pineapple juice & Angostura bitters) and a T-Rex Mex (hibiscus-infused tequila, red wine syrup, pineapple juice, lemon juice & basil).
The Jurassic Afternoon Tea is priced at £35 for children and from £49.50 for adults and is available Monday – Sunday, 12pm – 5:30pm in the hotel’s Apero restaurant.
