We can empower, inspire and educate our change-making pre-teen/teen girls (and their moms) with practical tools and information on how to thrive in life valuing health, wellness and joy.

We caught up with Amy Hudgens to tell us more about her new project How to raise nourished girls? She shares with us some useful tips. Over to Amy…

Here are some practical ways we can Nourish our girls (and us mothers) each day. Check out my Simple 4 Step System below to feel more nourished each day in a simple way. Add 1-2 things from each step daily!

#1 Nutrition~ Focus on eating more organic whole fresh foods. Eat a Rainbow on your plate of colourful veggies and fruits. Eat bitter foods like arugula, artichokes and add a squeeze of lemon to your water. These bitter foods help gently detox the liver. You’ll know your liver needs some love when you notice more irritability, mood swings, skin flare-ups and fatigue. Add in more protein, healthy fats and water each day. Eat less sugar and get enough sleep!

* If you’re on your period eat foods rich in iron like grass fed beef, beans, dates and  dark green leafy vegetables

#2 Anchors/Self Care~ Anchors are like habits that you do daily for yourself to make YOU feel good. They are also acts of self-care that helps you ground into each day and can help manage stress that may arise. Some anchors could be more sleep, walks in nature, exercise, writing in your journal or sipping on some tea.

#3 Joy~ What makes you happy, joyful and Lit up? Do more of that! Laugh More, Watch funny movies etc.

#4 Make Movement Fun~ Move your body daily and Make It Fun… dancing, jumping rope, ridding your bike, a walk, a run or anything that is fun!

Why Is It So Important To Nourish Ourselves As Mothers?

We can’t pour from an empty cup right? It’s so important to create time to fill our “energy bank” and take time for just us.

Some simple ways we can nourish ourselves as busy moms is to carve out some time daily just for us. This could be as simple as adding an extra couple minutes onto sipping our tea, a 15 minute walk in nature or whatever is recharging to you! In order to stay sustainable as a mom and give so much to our children and others, taking care of ourselves is essential.

Why Does This all Matter?

Raising nourished girls and nourishing ourselves as mothers matter so much!

It’s so important for the next generation of women (our daughters) to be healthy, joyful and empowered with self-confidence and kindness paired with education and awareness. Having these skills can have a positive ripple effect in the world and within our families.
