Kensington Mums- Your mama tribe

1. Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.

My name is Nikki.

I work as a Mental Health Practitioner for the NHS.

I have a 10-year-old son Liam and I am due a little girl this September 2021.

2. How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?

I’m fortunate enough to receive a lot of support from my parents, and friends – which I always take! My employers are equally supportive which is very important when having a healthy work/life balance as a mother. I am due to go on maternity leave soon and have a whole year to enjoy our new bundle of joy.

3. What top tips would you give to any working mum?

Make sure you set time aside for yourself doing something that you enjoy. Always use your annual leave to when you feel you need to have a break!

4. What do you love most about London? Do you have a favourite spot with your children?

I’m from Surrey, and we occasionally visit London for daytrips. Our favourite things to do is visit all the wonderful attractions like London Zoo, London Sealife, London Dungeons etc!

5. How do you define quality ‘me-time’?

For me personally – it must be a pamper day! I love getting pampered such as getting my hair done without the worry of work or parenting!

6. What is your favourite & least favourite thing about parenthood?

My favourite thing about parenthood has been watching my son grow into a lovely young lad! I love going to his football matches as it fills me with pride. With a little girl on the way, I’m going to be able to enjoy it all over again!

My least favourite thing about parenthood was probably the terrible two tantrums in my local supermarket! The world could’ve swallowed me up!

7. Tell us something people don’t know about you.

My son converted me into a Crystal Palace FC supporter through his own love of football!

8. Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first time Mum?

Enjoy every moment – the good and the bad – as they grow up too quickly! Also remember, we all learn differently, and we all have different thoughts, ideas and different routines. Find a way that mothering works for YOU (trial and error is how it goes!).

9. Finally, please let us know what you love most about Kensington Mums?

I love the way they empower all us mummies from all different walks of life! They are a very useful platform to support all mums-to-be on their journey into motherhood which for me is starting again from scratch after 10 years!
