Kensington Mums Reviews*

The Curiosity Journal

As a mum juggling work, kids, and life I always have so much going on in my head at one time. Even laying down in bed at night my mind is racing and it’s so hard to fall asleep. I have been told by many people to journal  and I have tried, but I always found it difficult to get all that is in my mind out on to paper. Often I would sit staring at a blank page. So when we were asked to review the curiosity journal I was very keen on giving it a go.

Curiosity Journals was first published in Australia in 2021. It was designed by thought leaders in psychology, mindset, business, and productivity. It is an excellent quality hard cover notebook with a book mark in a beautiful yellow colour. Even the colour of the journal immediately lifts your mood. It is filled with simple and tracking illustrations, pages of stimulating questions and encouraging quotes and blank spaces for you to fill in.

What to expect with your Curiosity Journal

To start of your curious mindset the journal gives you question generators with three groups of words where you are asked to choose one phrase from each and then action generators, this is so that once you have identified the answers to your questions you have an action plan on what you need to do next

Throughout the journal you have pages where you can write your own questions and answers, sections to write what you have learnt and what you can do next. These are main features of the journal but not only is it filled with these amazing aids for your journalling but there are also pages and pages of other thought provoking and structured prompts.

Another main feature in the journal and my favourite is the curiosity map which is groups of questions to a topic which are designed to help you go deeper and challenge your thinking so you really understand why you feel the way you do about situations.  The pre-designed curiosity maps are on the following common topics:

  • Self development map
  • Resilience map
  • Relationship map
  • Leadership map
  • Business map

Each of these have three main initial questions and then 5 to 7 following on questions.

I am thoroughly enjoying journalling with my curiosity journal. Its definitely helped me get out of that initial rut of my mind being bogged up. Its been great for guiding me in asking the right questions and helping me work out what I can do to eliminate the negative and enforce the positive.

The curiosity journal feels like a therapist on paper, it guides and gives you the tools you need to journal effectively and the gives you the space to continue to exercise the tools you have learnt on your own. It is enjoyable and gives serious depth to your reflection.

Why journaling?

Journaling is a great tool for clearing your mind and is recommended by many health experts to help improve your mood and manage stress, anxiety and depression. Journaling can help you process your thoughts and emotions and help you understand it. It is also a fantastic form of affordable self care and being a mum you already give so much of your self to your little ones and the world around you, it is important to take time for yourself and get things off your mind.

Whether you are an expert at journaling and are looking for new approaches or you are like me and don’t know how to get all that is in your head on paper the curiosity journal would be perfect for you. You can buy this for yourself as a personal development and well being practice or it can also be a great gift for a loved one.
