Como Garden, a truly delicious gem of a restaurant, on Kensington High Street, is a must visit.
Think of the perfect setting to enjoy delicious homemade Italian food that is served to be shared as the concept is Italian tapas which are simply blissful. Dining here, is like taking a little holiday for a few hours.
The Experience
We had the opportunity to enjoy a lovely meal on their opening week.
As soon as you come into the restaurant you will be surprised by the decor which really makes you feel you are in a luscious garden and gives you the impression that you are in Lago Di Como. It is a perfect getaway from bustling High Street Kensington to a cosy and relaxed environment where you can sit and peacefully enjoy your meal, while contemplating the magical and majestic Lago Di Como. For those of you who have been there you will know what I am referring to.
Once inside, we were greeted by the lovely staff. We sat in a booth right in the middle of the restaurant. We decided to allow the nice staff to surprise us by them selecting a variety of dishes from their menu for us to try. After a couple of minutes our delicious feast commenced.
From their Antipasti Tapas section we tried Burrata with Pesto And Datterini Tomatoes, the Burrata literally melted in our mouth, it is indeed one of the best I ever tried. The pesto and tomatoes paired up heavenly with this wonderful Burrata. The Fried Zucchine (Courgette), I definitely recommend these if you are dining with little ones as my son loved these crunchy and very tasty zucchinis. We also tried the Steak Tartare with Sweet Mustard, I was so lucky as I ended having it all by myself, as the others at my table are not very keen on eating raw meat. It was perfectly seasoned with a delicious and tangy mustard. A must have if you like steak tartare. We also had the Melanzane Alla Parmigiana; which is oven baked aubergine & Buffalo Mozzarella, a dream for aubergine lovers – so tasty and delicious. We can’t forget to mention the lovely home-made Italian bread with coarse salt, a true delight.
The feast continued with a selection from the Como Garden Raviolo section, this is a huge individual handmade raviolo, specifically the Truffle, Pecorino & Taleggio Cheese Raviolo, when they say big they mean big so much so that at least three people can enjoy a proper taste. If you like truffles then you must order this as it is delicious freshly made pasta generously stuffed with truffles and cheese then topped off with truffle shavings; out of this world – my second favorite. From their Home-made Pasta section, which are made daily, we had the Trofie Al Pesto – fresh short pasta from Liguria & Pesto. Ok, let me tell you that they know how to do pesto. It is simply lovely with a nutty flavour that enhances the taste of their pasta. Their trofie are delicious homemade and perfectly cooked al dente.
From their Carne e Pesce Tapas section which is their meats and seafood selection, we were well surprised by the huge Veal Milanese which is a 600gr breaded Veal Rib Chop. This one can easily be shared by three or more people. The veal is so tender and soft it really melts in your mouth. We loved the presentation as they served it with cutting scissors. The veal came with Truffled Patatine Fritte, the perfect crunchy potato fries that make the best combination and every anyone happy.
We really had a feast or maybe the right way to describe it will be an explosion of wonderful flavours and everything was so delicious that literally we had no more room for dessert. We missed trying their desserts but I am confident they are to die for as is all their savoury food.
