With Christmas approaching, a group of Kensington Mums were invited to review the Christmas menu at the famous and busy restaurants in the heart of Kensington: Bodo Schloss. Hidden in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Kensington, lies this beautiful and unique Alpine ski lodge offering an escape far closer than the slopes of the Alps. A restaurant, bar and disko, Bodos Schloss encompasses Austrian authenticity and tradition at it’s best. It was a great and well deserved Mums Night Out.
The whole experience was great, we were a group of 6 Mums and as soon as we arrived we were greeted by the staff at the entrance to guide us to our table and leave our heavy coats behind. As we sat down on our table, people were starting to come in for their special dinners and Christmas parties. The mood and atmosphere was brilliant and it really felt as if you were in a ski lodge in Austria.
The crowd was buzzing and everyone was there to have a good time. We opted for their set menu for Christmas which included the following menu:
Starters
Alpine charcuterie selection, Served with warm Swiss bread, pickles and chutney
Baked Camembert, Crisp baked cheese with cranberry and redcurrant dressed salad
Main
Sea bass Bouillabaisse, Seared sea bass in a rich red pepper and tomato broth with shaved fennel and saffron potato
Bodos Christmas Dinner, Roast turkey with goose fat potatoes, roast chestnuts, buttered sprouts, pumpkin and smoked bacon served with fresh cranberry sauce
Some of us also opted for the Bodos smoked fish pie, Smoked haddock, salmon and hake with a white wine and leek sauce topped with a whole grain mustard mash.
Dessert
Warm apple strudel, With vanilla and orange custard
Chocolate and chestnut brownie
This was all made to be shared as a group, which was great as we all got tasting different flavours and dishes. Throughout the dinner, the manager and waiters would also ask if we needed anything and our drinks were always looked after. As soon as the dinner was over, the place transformed into a night club. Within minutes, tables and chairs got removed and DJ was playing the latest songs and tunes. We all got dancing before it was time to go home.
We had lots of fun, and highly recommend it for a fun night out in Kensington!
