Brighton College is coming to London! In September 2023, Brighton College’s new school, Brighton College Prep Kensington, will open its doors to boys and girls aged 2 to 13.
Brighton College Prep Kensington is a member of the Brighton College family of schools. This means both children and staff benefit from the world-renowned experience and resources of Brighton College, The Sunday Times award-winning ‘School of the Decade’.
Their location
Brighton College Prep Kensington will sit across four spacious Grade-II listed townhouses in the heart of Kensington and has been renovated to a bespoke educational standard, developing dynamic spaces that encourage communication, collaboration, and creativity.
Their proximity to museums and galleries, means that trips to the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the V&A are all part of daily life, allowing stimulating and exciting experiences to be embedded into the curriculum, letting curiosity lead the way.
Their Kensington location also means that children have amazing sporting facilities right on their doorstep. Year 3’s weekly swimming lessons will take place at the Imperial College Ethos Centre next door, as will indoor sport lessons. For outdoor sport, children will stroll up to Hyde Park, no more than a five-minute walk away, even for little legs. No time will be wasted on buses, and the focus will be on what the children love – football, netball, rugby, hockey, swimming, athletics, cricket, basketball, gymnastics and badminton. The list goes on!
Their facilities
Pupils will enjoy access to play areas, state-of-the-art science labs, two art studios, a beautiful music room and a multi-purpose and bold Makerspace. They will also be able to make use of their hidden gem – a two-acre Secret Garden, set directly behind the school. This access to outdoor space means that a Forest School programme will run on a regular basis, emphasising outdoor learning and the importance of environmental responsibility. Come rain or shine, the outdoors will be an integral part of daily life at Brighton College Prep Kensington, with children enjoying fun, hands-on, practical experiences as a part of the curriculum throughout the year. They will pop on their waterproofs to enjoy a rich outdoor programme which allows them to explore, investigate and have fun! What better way to develop a love of nature and an enquiring mind!
Their Curriculum
The rich curriculum on offer will ensure Year 7 and 8 pupils are ready for the next stage in their education and their 13+, and with passionate teaching staff, the children will be truly excited about their futures. Specialist teachers will work with children throughout their prep school journey and with study skills, reasoning, current affairs, and literacy practice incorporated into the timetable, they will ensure their children feel confident and happy as they transition to Senior School.
