Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.
My Name is Aida Yahaya, I’m an entrepreneur, event producer and the founder of Good Stretch Studio (global online stretching studio). I have a baby girl.
How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?
I’ve been lucky to run my own business, it gives me more flexibility to manage mum and work time. The number one thing for me is to make sure I organise my time, plan ahead, write things down in my calendar. Building a routine for the baby is super important, so I have some time for myself. Finally, making sure I share responsibilities with my husband when I need extra time for work.
What top tips would you give to any working mum?
- I think it is so important for all us moms to schedule time for ourselves to relax, re-energise and reset. We spend so much time doing things for others. When we make ourselves a priority we are happier and better business women, moms, wives, and friends!
- Get more organised than ever before, especially with your time.
- Think positively and chill out. Nobody is perfect, we have to be kind to ourselves as we can’t do everything, and it’s very important to not compare yourself to other mums.
- Spent alone time with your Hubby. Try to still do things that you like – gym, date nights, etc.
- Cook in bulk
What do you love most about London? Do you have a favourite spot with your children?
London’s vibe. London has so much to offer, great education, and lots activities for babies and kids. My baby is only 13 months so we’re always exploring new places. One of my favourites Royal Albert Hall, as they have great short concerts, like jazz for kids. Highly recommend it.
How do you define quality ‘me-time’?
I love going to spa and get a massage or facial. I love having a bath and watch my favouring TV series, and last but not least shopping and lunch with my girlfriends with some wine.
What is your favourite & least favourite thing about parenthood?
I’m enjoying absolutely everything about my baby, but the favourite thing is when she’s smiling and showering me or her daddy with kisses.
The least favourite thing the lack of sleep and getting up in the middle of the night.
Tell us something people don’t know about you.
I was born and raised in Moscow, I’m half Russian, half Armenian, I ran my own reality tv show J
Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first time Mum?
Take time for yourself, encourage your husband to help out, love yourself, sleep when you can, and take pictures of your baby as they grow super-fast. Don’t feel compelled to follow all the advice you get from other mums, trust your instincts. And just know you are doing amazingly and you are the best momma for your baby!
