One of London’s leading preparatory schools, Cameron Vale School, nestled in the heart of Chelsea, has just a few spaces now remaining for a September 2023 start.
The excellent-rated prep school and nursery, situated just off Kings Road, is operated by education specialists, Forfar Education, and as such are part of a network of outstanding education settings across the UK. Forfar is known for putting children’s enjoyment of education at the heart of learning, from the moment they walk through the door to the very last activity of the day.
Cameron Vale has recently welcomed a new headmistress, Mrs Alison Melrose, who joins the school with a wealth of experience spanning 25 plus years in the education sector. Alison was previously the founding Head at Prince’s Garden Preparatory School in Kensington, as well as establishing her own business as a talented educational consultant.
After graduating from Durham University, Alison has held a variety of roles across preparatory schools in London including Head at Broomwood Hall, Garrad’s Road, and is a member of IAPS and ISA.
Alison said: “I’m thrilled to see how many enquiries and applications we are receiving on a weekly basis for our 2023 cohort and I’m delighted with how quickly the children and staff alike have jumped on board with my ethos, which centres around encouraging curiosity at every turn. We have just a few spaces left for our Reception class for this coming September and I’m certain we will soon be establishing a waiting list, given how many personal 1-1 tours of the school we have conducted recently.
“Cameron Vale appealed to me not only for its excellent reputation, but also for its family-feel and incredibly inspiring ethos and values. I have experience of both academic and operational aspects of school life, having also worked across the Northwood Schools group as Director of Operations and supporting my local primary school as a governor for seven years – so I feel perfectly placed to further enhance the world-class learning opportunities on offer at Cameron Vale.
“As the September admission deadline approaches, we look forward to welcoming our new cohort of pupils for their settling in and familiarisation sessions. This is a very exciting time for the school and nursery, welcoming the next generation of young inquisitive minds to our school. We recognise how important it is for parents to find the right fit for their child’s education, which is why we hope parents will join us for personal school tours, showcasing all that we have to offer.”
John Forsyth, CEO of Forfar Education, added: “Alison has an impressive career story to date and a palpable ambition to contribute to the well-established family ethos and inspiring community values of the school.
“This is a very exciting time for Cameron Vale and with an influx of recent applications for the September 2023 year group, we now only have a few places remaining.”
Cameron Vale school’s sister setting, The Chelsea Nursery, has also received a high volume of applications and enquiries following its refurbishment and appointment of a new Head of Nursery this year.
Children can start at the nursery from the age of six months up to four years, where they are then able to seamlessly transition into the prep school.
The Chelsea Nursery focuses on the primary areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum through its range of interactive and thought-provoking learning materials and spaces. These facilities include a dedicated arts and crafts space, reading areas and an imaginative play area with lots of outdoor space for children to develop and explore. In addition, the nursery has introduced a free-flow playground to complement its existing outdoor education, such as regular visits to Forest School, supporting individual development through play.
The nursery, like the prep school, prides itself on small class sizes and a personalised education, while framing its teachings around a set of simple and powerful core values, encouraging children to:
- Be Courageous
- Be Collaborative
- Be a Critical Thinker
- Be Curious
- Be Creative
Throughout the nursery and school, education focuses on enriching the development of each pupil, supporting their progression to each important learning milestone, and providing a welcoming and positive environment at every stage of their journey from Early Years to preparation for senior school.
Lara Van Romburgh, newly appointed Head of The Chelsea Nursery with a wealth of experience in a variety of roles including teaching, mentoring and running her own nursery, said: “We are open 50 weeks in the year, for boys and girls, and we aim to instil a love of learning within our pupils from the age of six months. We believe that children should be offered the opportunity to explore the world in a safe environment, forming the first steps on their academic journey. Each child receives tailored care from our highly skilled early years experts, with one of our professional team looking after a maximum of three children.”
Both Cameron Vale and The Chelsea Nursery put the child’s enjoyment of education at the heart of everything they do, offering an array of practical and curriculum-driven opportunities.
Alison Melrose added: “At Cameron Vale we recognise the importance of instilling a well-rounded education in the next generation, which is why we welcome new parents to be a part of our excellent rated community to ensure each child is given the opportunity to flourish. I take particular care in reviewing our enrichment and co-curricular programme to ensure we don’t only offer a prestigious educational experience, but we also offer an education outside of the classroom.”
With limited spaces remaining, Alison and her team are encouraging parents interested in a Cameron Vale education for their child or children to reach out today and contact them to arrange a private school tour, offering prospective families the opportunity to experience all that is on offer at Cameron Vale and giving parents the chance to discuss the future of their child at the leading prep school.
