Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.
My name is Safia Rana Jaswal, I run a Global Media Broadcast company with my husband and am also founder of The Mum Hub. I have 3 children two girls and a boy.
How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?
Running your own businesses comes with its logistical challenges. There is no maternity leave, there is no 9-5, and the personal responsibility of being a business owner weighs heavy on your shoulders.
There are a few things I do to make sure I give my all whatever I am doing. Firstly I am not afraid to ask for help, I have a therapist, I have a nanny and I have domestic help. My time is also money and I feel the best use of my time isnât spent cleaning my house! Having a therapist allows me to have an outlet for myself. It allows me to voice my frustrations, talk about things I’m struggling with and overall gives me a set of things to work on to make me a better mum.
I have also always had a nanny for my children which has allowed me to commit 110% when I am working. It has also given me the flexibility which I am fortunate for to take my children to their baby&toddler classes.
What top tips would you give to any working mum?
- Prioritising time for yourself is key to being a happy and healthy mum, wife and friend
- I do make sure I have one takeaway evening with my husband on a Saturday night
- IÂ Â diarise my personal training and Gym sessions daily as with such a busy lifestyle, movement is medicine for me.
- Organisation is key, I batch cook for 3 days on a Sunday and my husband cooks 2 days a week. We then get a takeaway on Saturday night and the kids get to choose their own to eat together in their playroom and then we do a family Sunday roast.
What do you love most about London?  Do you have a favourite spot with your children?
Iâm very fortunate that my work takes us abroad every half term, but London is home to me. With 3 kids under 7 taking a trip to London can seem like a mammoth task but myself and my husband are such foodies we love to take the kids to Novikov, Tamarind of mayfair and Amazonico.
We also are big fans of Harrods for hall and Selfridges toy level, the FAO SHWARTZ rocket is a big hit!
How do you define quality âme-timeâ?
I love going to brunch with my friends and having a cheeky at home facial. I donât get much time to watch TV so I love listening to podcasts to continue my love of learning. I highly recommend âDiary of a CEOâ
What is your favourite & least favourite thing about parenthood?
The unconditional love you get from your child, no matter what you do or how bad of a day youâve had is worth every sleepless night, public meltdowns and the constant worry of not doing enough.
Tell us something people donât know about you
I was born and raised in the East of London, I am mixed Indian, Pakistani and Greek!
Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first time Mum?
Share the load from the start, I put way too much pressure on myself to âdo it allâ when I really didnât have to. Donât wish the days away and be confident in your actions and decisions, the little ones can see right through you if youâre not.
