Q1. Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.
I’m Tiffany Salmon, I’m the Creative Director for my family business Amelia Knight and Brand Founder of Scientia plus sister brands Glow Hub and Soak Sunday. I have two children, Tallulah (5) and Rocco (3).
Q2. How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?
It is really tricky! I want my children to see me as a hard-working woman, proving that you don’t have to choose between motherhood and career. I love my job and take a great sense of pride in it, so that helps. However, getting that balance can be difficult, making sure you don’t miss out on those everyday moments, the good parts and the not so good! It’s something I really have to work at and I’m lucky to have such a large family close by to help.
Q3. What top tips would you give to any working mum?
It’s definitely a struggle for all Mums especially when you first go back to work, but I think it’s just getting used to it as time goes on. For me I just threw myself into work, my days are always full, so it kept my mind and myself busy before rushing home to see my babies. There’s no greater feeling than getting home from work to your amazing kids waiting for a cuddle so I always keep that in mind!
Q4. What do you love most about visiting London? Do you have a favourite spot with your children?
I love the vibrancy of the city, the fashion, the art, the food. When it comes to the kids, we love a trip to the National History Museum, followed by high tea at The Ritz.
Q5. How do you define quality ‘me-time’?
For me, me-time is all about self-care.  I just think it’s so important to stop, switch off and recharge. I found that separation of home and work life especially tricky during lockdown, so it’s become really important to make an effort to unwind and focus on myself for at least a small part of every day.
A huge part of that for me is skincare, and ‘me-time’ is integral to one of my brands, Scientia. Supercharged skincare that gives you the ultimate glow, blending power natural extracts with cutting edge science and technology to bring you products that deliver maximum skin health, all whilst boosting wellbeing. A skincare routine isn’t just about visible results (although that is a huge part of it, of course) it’s also about making skincare an act of selfcare. That investment in your skin and mind, creating feel-good rituals that give you that glow inside and out.
Q6. What is your favourite & least favourite thing about parenthood?
My favourite part is watching my kids discovering the world, seeing them learn new things and feel excited, nervous, enthralled by it all, it really is so special.
Then for my least favourite thing… honestly, it’s probably the inevitable guilt you feel as a Mum, worrying that I’m missing out on moments whilst I’m at work, it’s a tricky thing to avoid.
Q7. Tell us something people don’t know about you.
I struggle with skin confidence. People think as a skincare founder I always have amazingly clear skin, but that’s not necessarily the case… After I stopped breastfeeding my second child, my hormones went crazy and for the first time in my life I had acne. It’s something a lot of women struggle with but at the time I just couldn’t find the answers. I thought it was dairy, too much almond milk, my SPF, my own sweat, the search for the reason behind it all was endless. As an adult, and as someone who was launching their own skincare brands, it really affected my confidence.
It was part of the reason I created the Pure Clarity range for Scientia. After spending so long searching for products that were going to help without stripping my skin or drying me out, and coming up empty-handed, I headed to the lab and started to create something for myself.  Like keeping your life in check, the perfect skincare routine is all about balance! I wanted those hard-hitting ingredients – like PHA Succinic Acid and Niacinamide to tackle those breakouts and blended them with soothing, rejuvenating ingredients like Aloe, Sacred Lotus Extract, Glycerin to give the skin some love at the same time.
Yes, I still have hormonal acne, but I’m also much happier in my skin too.
Q8. Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first-time Mum?
I’d say don’t put too much pressure on yourself and don’t compare yourself to others, we’re all going to do things differently. Oh, and enjoy the quiet moments, they’re far and in between so embrace them when you can!
Q9. I’m a mum and…
Q10. Finally, please let us know what you love most about Kensington Mums?
The feeling of community you get. Being a Mum is hard work so it’s always amazing to know other people are going through the same thing and are willing to impart a bit of advice along the way too!
