Travelling to Lima, Peru – A review!

Lima, capital of Peru, is an amazing destination to visit and spend great vacation with family. It is one of the world’s top culinary gastronomy place where you can delight with delicious dishes everywhere.
Positioned on the rugged Pacific coastline, the city spreads out along the shore with high up on imposing cliff tops overlooking the ocean.

Most tourist attractions offer lower costs for children tickets and some family packages, as well as providing amenities for the little ones.

If you’ll be visiting Lima with kids, here are my top-recommended activities, along with suggestions for child-friendly places to eat while you are there.

Water circuit

An incredible place with magical fountains shows. It is totally free for the little ones, and not expensive at all for adults. Enjoy a family evening with the fountains and take the opportunity by finishing the show, to go and taste typical food “anticuchos” in the area’s surroundings.

Miraflore’s Malecon

Lima has some wonderful parks, especially in the upmarket neighborhood of Miraflores. “El Malecon”, a six-mile stretch of green space that runs along the cliff tops with views over the Pacific Ocean. This long, paved pathway is ideal for walking, running, paragliding or cycling.

The green expanses of “Malecon” are the best place to enjoy the amazing views of the ocean, while the little ones can play non-stop outdoors over the green areas and playgrounds.

Walking through the path you can run into Larcomar, a shopping center in the heart of the Miraflores with lot of stores, restaurants, theatre and much fun activities to spend quality good family time.

A recreation park for children up to 13 years old, where they can explore a mini city and play different role works. A super educational place where they can learn about real activities that are done in the real world. It is located in the biggest mall “Jockey Plaza” where you can also shop or eat in top Restaurants.

Parque de las Leyendas

Younger children always enjoy animals. The park of the Legends has several sections for the family with the characteristics of Peru. Easy access and travel to carry buggies.

Beautiful beaches

Summer time is my favorite season (January- March) to visit Lima. There a lot of free beaches in the city and near it where you can find numerous resorts and beaches on the banks of the Pacific Ocean

In Lima you will find beaches in Miraflores (Costa Verde), Barranco and Chorrillos, and also La Punta in Callao. Despite there are no the beautiful ones, is a good option if you want something close.

The best beaches are located south of Lima, and they are the favorite ones of young people. Near the beaches are located some inns, restaurants and discothèques that have intense night activity during summer.

El Silencio, Señoritas, Caballeros, Pico Alto, Punta Rocas:
36. KM (22 miles) Contiguous beaches, contained among small ravines, youth’s favorite ones, and medium waves for surfing. Typical restaurants of marine food and bars outdoors.

Asia Area:
97.5 Km (61 miles) from Lima with “The Sur Plaza Boulevard”, a big commercial area and the best restaurants and discotheques, bars, lounges, shopping malls, cinemas, supermarkets, gyms. Open in summer (December to April). In the zone are several contiguous private beaches and condoms and also some hotels in the area.

Where to eat with Kids?

La Bodega Verde

An ecofriendly coffee inside the MAC museum (contemporary art museum) with lot of green area and delicious food. They use to have lot of kid’s activities and is one of my favorites places to go for Sunday’s breakfast with family and friends.

The first thematic restaurant in Peru in which they combine good food with special dishes with the sensation of living an adventure and entertainment in a tropical forest environment, surrounded by African animals, with movement and real appearance.
