- Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.
Hello! I am Joanna Hunt. Best selling author, conscious family coach, wife and mother to my beautiful, soon-to-be 1 year old, daughter, Tula.
- How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?
My answer is threefold! A morning yoga practice, asking for help when needed, and creating strong boundaries around “mum time” and “work time” have helped me most in managing the work and life balance as a mother.
- What top tips would you give to any working mum?
To all the working mums out there – give yourself permission to say no! Let me say that again in a different way – if it’s your answer to an invitation is not a HELL YES, than it’s a definite NO! Say no to any person or activities that drain your energy. And on the contrary create a support system of people who build you up, cheer your on and help you out when needed!
- What do you love most about London? Do you have a favourite spot with your children?
I am an American who moved to the Isle of Wight 18-months ago. However, I lived in Boston and New York City for most of my life and am a city girl at heart! London is still a novel place to me and I am still discovering my favourite parts. So, I have to pass on this question – and warmly welcome any suggestions from local mamas who are reading this!
- How do you define quality ‘me-time’?
My morning yoga practice is my favourite and most essential “me-time” activity. It gives me 20-minutes of quiet. 20-minutes to remind myself of what is important to me and what I want to create within my life. 20-minutes to breathe, stretch, and feel grateful. These 20-minutes transform my life and my motherhood experience every single day.
- What is your favourite & least favourite thing about parenthood?
My favourite parts are the giggles and the cuddles. My least favourite is the lack of sleep!
- Tell us something people don’t know about you.
I recently became a best selling author. I wrote a book called “Find Your Mama Groove” that was released in August. I wrote this book for all the moms out there who want motherhood to be easier and more fun. If you haven’t got your copy yet – please do – it’s easily found on Amazon! I wrote is as a roadmap to show mothers a way forward – a way to create the life and family they long for.
- Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first time Mum?
You baby doesn’t need a perfect mum, they need a real one. Many of the new mums I work with have convinced themselves that they must do all the things in order to be a “good” mom. This is not true. I promise you, you are a good mom just by being you.
- I’m a mum and……
A new business owner! Whilst my coaching business has been going for some time, I opened a wellness studio for mothers in and visiting the Isle of Wight. It’s called Wight Wellness and we specialise in bringing burnt-out mums into balance through bespoke coaching, yoga classes, holistic treatments, mama retreats, and family retreats too. It is the perfect getaway for the London mama because it’s only 2-hours from Waterloo by train! At the same time, I am able to work with mamas all across the globe through my online coaching and coaching programs.
- Finally, please let us know what you love most about Kensington Mums?
Kensington Mums is an amazing resource and community for mums! Both knowledge and good people are essential for mamas! I love all the inspiration, information, and encouragement this platform provides for me.
