Rare Charity Christmas Presents 2019

Martyn Nail, Executive Chef of Claridge’s Hotel, has offered to create a private exclusive dinner party at the home of one Rare Charitysupporter.

Every £10 donation made to Rare Charity via their website enters the donor with a chance to win. The more £10 donations made, the more chances there are of winning.

Martyn will create a three-course lunch or dinner menu for up to six people at the home of the winner (or the winner’s nominee if the winner lives outside the UK).

Donations must be made here to enter the competition. Terms and conditions apply.

The winner will be picked at random on noon on 7th January and will be notified the same day.

Martyn Nail

Martyn’s work is treasured the world over, and his trademark creations have won accolades around the world for decades. Under Martyn’s direction, Claridge’s has established itself as one of London’s landmark culinary destinations, hosting some of the most prestigious events in the capital – including a collaboration with René Redzepi to support Rare Charity.

Martyn made the offer exclusively to support Rare Charity’s important work. He says: “I believe that carefully sourced ingredients, treated with respect, create great dishes. That is why I love Rare Charity – it creates a meaningful link between people who consume tea and people who produce it. At Claridge’s we offer the world’s very best tea, and I am thrilled to be supporting the education of the young people who produce that tea.”

Rare Charity

Rare Charity offers talented young people, within tea producing communities, access to education. Its ambition is to equip individuals with the agency to implement long-term social change in their own ways and on their own terms.

Rare Charity already funds 16 secondary and tertiary scholarships on Satemwa Tea Estate in Malawi, creating a cohort of qualified professionals who would otherwise be plucking tea to survive.

The United Nations cites higher educational scholarships as a key component to achieving their Sustainable Development Goals. By focussing on a specific community (Satemwa), surrounding a particular industry (Tea), Rare Charity consolidates the most direct, powerful and sustainable impact in one the poorest countries in the world.
