Ashbourne College is a private co-educational college for A-Level and GCSE in Kensington and will be hosting its Spring Open Evening on Wednesday 13th March from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Above all, the College has a track record of academic excellence, with 50% of A-Level grades achieved over the last four years being either A* or A. 54% of students last year went on to Russell Group Universities, with almost 20% securing a place at the University of Cambridge, UCL, LSE or Imperial College.

Ashbourne’s Open Evening will be a great opportunity for prospective students, parents, family and friends to look around the college and meet with the teaching staff. Located just off Kensington High Street, on a quiet road close to Kensington Palace, Ashbourne has become one of the leading providers of A-Level education in London.

Ashbourne is a college for students who value the best academic traditions of independent education but are looking for a radically fresh approach. Ashbourne respects individuality and independence and offers its students the unrestricted freedom to choose from a vast array of interesting and stimulating subjects. With classes rarely exceeding 10, they stress the importance placed on individual attention. Relations with staff are uncomplicated, informal and often inspiring.

“Rising reputation”

Ashbourne was founded in 1981 by its current Principal, Mike Kirby, and has since developed into an established and competitive sixth form college. When first established, Ashbourne specialised in Mathematics, Sciences and Economics, but now offers teaching in over 30 subjects including the humanities, social sciences and creative arts. Not only this, but the College now also offers programmes to support applicants for competitive university subjects such as Medicine, Engineering and Finance. The backbone of Ashbourne is now formed by the two-year A-level programme, although the college also has a small but growing GCSE department, founded in the early 1990s. Over the years Ashbourne has attracted many enthusiastic, highly motivated students from both home and abroad, who have achieved excellent exam results and proceeded to top British universities, as well as prestigious universities around the world. Ashbourne’s rising reputation has been accompanied by significant development both in student numbers and in the size and quality of its buildings. The single room occupied by Ashbourne in 1981 has evolved into eight floors, filled with state-of-the-art facilities. Other aspects of the school have nevertheless remained constant, above all the dedication to small classes, personal attention and emphasis on academic excellence. Ashbourne is currently fortunate to have a number of teachers who have taught at the college for well over a decade alongside a strong and dedicated administration team.
