Nestled in the heart of Chelsea, the newly renovated No Fifty Cheyne is a restaurant full of surprises. I would definitely call it, one of Chelsea Embankment’s best spots for modern British eats and tasty grilled dishes, alongside some impressive cocktails.
When we first arrived, we immediately fell in love with the light blue facade decorated with flowers, which gives straight away a magical feel to the place.
Reopened since April 1st, the nine-month renovation has resulted in a space that’s elegant, intimate with a rank of gastronomic excellence.
One of the biggest assets of No Fifty Cheyne is probably its staff: delightful and very attentive, some of them even tried to speak few words in French to make us feel comfortable, which worked obviously!
We then came across the menu, especially crafted by the head chef Iain Smith. We found fantastic fresh, seasonal ingredients and dishes suitable for every diet. I picked the famous cured salmon with avocado, ruby grapefruit, fennel and red apple salad, and my colleague went for Seared scallop with bacon jam, Cep mushroom and asparagus sauce, both were just a delish!
For the main, a waitress kindly recommended us several dishes depending on our preference, (I’m pescatarian), and we were delighted by the choices she’s made. I can still remember the taste of my Halibut, soft leeks and courgettes with lobster bisque, one of the best seafood I’ve ever eaten (and I am from Brittany!), while Caroline opted for a Grilled Sirloin with French Fries.
The cuisine is modern British, using ingredients sourced from the country’s finest farms and orchards to produce classic dishes with a European twist.
The delight of our evening was probably the range of desserts offered by No Fifty Cheyne. It is not without joy and excitement that we have shared this delicious collection of sweet treats starting from the French Crème Brûlée, to Chocolate Fondant and Gariguette strawberry Eton mess.
No Fifty Cheyne is a place for special occasions: date nights, anniversaries, engagement parties… You couldn’t possibly leave here without a smile on your face and a full stomach.
Special mention again for the fantastic staff who made us spend a very nice time.
Thank you No Fifty Cheyne for having us, we will come back for sure!
