Back to school also means back to infection, colds and flue and as I sometimes refer to school a ‘germ factory’! We’ve already had our share of it including a trip to A&E. Not so much fun. I hope you all had a more exciting week and enjoyed reading the guest blog on how important it is to acquire first aid skills can help save lives and less trips to A&E!

This week we have the First Aid for Life for Babies & Toddlers course taking place on Thursday 27th at Whole Foods Kensington from 7pm-10pm.There is also the Kensington Mum Bootcamp taking place on Saturday 29th September in Holland Park and on Monday 1st October we’ve got the Kensington Mums pamper session at CocoNail Bar. Kensington Mums visited the Brompton Libray. On Mondays they have baby rhyme time for under 2s. It was a great afternoon spend singing, clapping and dancing. Baby rhyme time is on every Monday from 2pm -2.30pm. Storytime for the slightly olders ones is available every Thursday morning from 10am-10:30am. Kensington Mums visited the A&E of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Needless to say these visits are never fun, but it was important to have such an amazing A&E nearby to rely on. This is very important for us and for our local community of families with children. It would be great if you could help keep Chelsea and Westminster Hospital retain its status as a major hospital and to continue providing its life-saving services by completing the Safe in our Hands online postcard here, you would be helping our community!
The first aid for babies and toddlers is taking place this Thursday. You will each receive a comprehensive First Aid manual and certificates can be provided if required. There will ample baby and child mannequins for you to get your hands on to practice on. The course lasts for 3 hours and covers most common childhood injuries and major illnesses. Topics includes choking and drowning as well as what to do if your child is unconscious and how to deal with burns, head injuries, fitting and bleeding. The classes cost £70 per person and partners and Daddies are welcome to attend. The courses will run on a monthly basis from 7-10pm on Thursday 27 September, Wednesday 24th October at Whole Foods Market, Kensington at 63-97 Kensington High Street, London W8 5SE and Tuesday 20th November 2012 (location TBC). The spaces on this class are small and so we only have a limited number of places available, please get in touch if you are interested to attend.
Come and get fit with Kensington Mums Bootcamp this Saturday 29th September in partnership with Scandinavian Fitness. Tell your other Mums to come along and lets all get fit together!

Learn the skills to capture that special moment of your little one. Kensington Mums has joined forces with Photography for Parents. These Practical photography workshop for parents gives you everything you need to know on how to use your camera and to take amazing photos of your children. The classes will start on Monday 8th October from 10-11.30am at the Chelsea Theatre. Babies and young children are welcome in class. You will be encouraged to take some amazing shots of them in class under close supervision of a baby and child photographer. or practice at home if you are coming alone after dropping them at school. Tara arrives in London. After Dublin and before Paris, the French scientific research vessel Tara will arrive in London on September 17th for a ten-day stay. The schooner has just completed a two-and-a-half year, 70,000-mile voyage across the Atlantic, Pacific, Antarctic and Indian Oceans, investigating marine ecosystems and biodiversity under the impact of climate change.
