Motherhood by Myleene Klass

  1. Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.

I’m Myleene, I have two beautiful daughters, two fabulous step children and I am a working mum. I spend my working time as a musician, a tv and radio host and a clothing designer for MyK at Mothercare, women’s wear and luggage and have my own fitness programme called MyBody.

  1. How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?

It’s tricky to get a balance and anyone that says you can have it all is lying but you can certainly have fun trying! I find the thing that usually gives is my sleep!

  1. What top tips would you give to any working mum?

Hold on tight, don’t be hard on yourself and remember you’re not only providing for your children but you’re also showing them how to do something for themselves. I tell my girls all the time that I don’t send them to school and to find their passion to then think they have to just give it all up later in life. I’m trying to provide them with choices in their lives so when/if the time comes, they can decide what they want to do out of choice rather than pressure of circumstance. Plus, the sense of achievement I feel at the end of a days work and the passion I have for my job makes me happy and in turn my family too.

  1. What was your inspiration behind MyBody by Myleene Klass?

I wanted to feel strong and I wanted to feel fit. My children see me rushing around all day long but to put that time aside to take care of myself is important. I wanted to feel good ultimately and I want to be around for my children later in life and active for them. I have many girlfriends, (myself included) who feel they dropped to the bottom of the list when they had kids and it’s nice to find yourself again and empowering to take the control back of feeling like yourself again, a person in your own right as well as Ava and Hero’s mum.

  1. Who inspires you and why?

My children inspire me to be the best I can be, my friends to keep going and to remember why I am doing everything that I am and people I see myself that have a ‘go get’ attitude always make me feel excited and determined. That can be anyone from Gal Gadot to the nurses I recently met at a hospital visit.

  1. What are three things we will always find in your hand bag?

Wet wipes, hair bobbles and please God, my house keys!

  1. Tell us something people don’t know about you.

I am hyper extended. I bend at the craziest angles in the craziest of places! A doctor once took a photo of my arms declaring he’d never seen anything so extreme! I have to be extra careful as a result when I work out so that I don’t put more pressure on my joints.

  1. Given we are all about embracing Motherhood, what advice would you give a first time Mum?

Be kind to yourself and you know best. You will have a million people come up to you meaning well, with a million opinions but go with what you think and what you want to do for yourself and your family.

  1. I’m a mum and…… a mum-preneur

  1. Finally, please let us know what you love most about Kensington Mums?

That they have an open forum of support for each other full of humour. Isn’t that all any mum really wants and needs, a kick ass cheering squad?!
