We caught up with Karen Snyder, Mum of three and founder of My Hospital Bag to share with us her motherhood journey so far.
How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a mother?
It’s a lot easier now than when I first started out, my youngest was only 18 months! They are in school all day which allows me the time to manage as much as I can during school hours. I always have my phone close by me but try not to do too much (unless I have to) when they are around. I often catch up in the evenings once the kids are in bed.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Truly my biggest accomplishment comes from the emails/calls I receive from clients telling me how thankful they are to have discovered myHospitalBag as it really helped them prepare for labour! It doesn’t get much better than that, a truly lovely feeling
What top tips would you give to any mum on starting her own business?
Believe in yourself and don’t give up. Stay confident that your idea is a good one and make sure you thoroughly research your market
What was your inspiration behind myHospital bag?
When I was pregnant with my first child, I noticed how many mums panicked over what to pack in their hospital bags. As I decided not to return to my pre-pregnancy marketing job, I decided I was going to create a solution, to take away the worry of planning for labout & myHospitalBag was born! I have always had a secret desire to create & build something myself!
What is your favourite hang out in London with your children?
I drive my kids mad to be outside and my favourite hangout has to be jumping on our bikes and cycling anywhere in London. We always come back, refreshed, rosy cheeked and happy!
How do you define quality ‘me-time’?
Me time is sneaking off to catch up with Kindle reading, bootcamp – the best way to start any day & going for walks.
I am a Mum and…?
It has changed my life! We have good times, we have tough times but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What do you love most about London?
I love the diversity of London, there is always something going on and so many new adventures to discover.
Where is your ideal family holiday and why?
My ideal holiday is somewhere HOT!! But honestly any holiday where my kids are happy and not bickering is ideal!!
Given we are all about embracing our Motherhood journey what advice would you give a first time Mum?
Take a deep breath, try not to panic, sleep when the baby sleeps and remember tomorrow is another (new) day to start again.
