Milina London is an independent jewellery brand based in London. They source, design and make beautiful, timeless pieces using only the highest-quality, natural materials for their sterling silver jewellery, from natural gemstones to freshwater pearls. The pieces are designed and hand-crafted with a strong emphasis on quality and beauty.
Milina and her team believe that a personal touch is really important, as the process of buying or commissioning jewellery is an experience, not just a purchase. That’s why they are striving to become a family jeweller online, bringing back a friendly, service-oriented approach where they build relationships with customers.
Milina Lunavat, an innovator amongst London jewellery designers, is the face behind Milina London’s timeless pieces. She graduated from the London School of Economics and then worked in the London banking industry for several years. However, after the birth of her first child in 2007, she knew she wanted a change and decided to set up her own business.
Milina’s passion for jewellery stems from her childhood growing up in India. For her, jewellery is more than just an accessory, it is a piece of art passed down through the generations. Inspired by her upbringing and keen to work with other artisan jewellers across the world, Milina London became a way for her to channel her creativity and passion whilst working collaboratively with other designers and skilled artisans.
Milina London take great pride in working directly with artisans in the UK, Mexico and India. Their central aim is to encourage craftsmanship and keep traditional jewellery-making methods alive. It also helps them to ensure fair working practices and the highest quality for their handmade silver jewellery. It allows them to get truly involved in the curation process, handpicking the very best designs for their customers.
Milina London has enabled many small, remote artisans to reach a much wider audience and share a wonderful heritage of skills from around the world. Artisans usually learn their skills at a young age from their parents or family members, meaning the skills are carried through for future generations. Future generations learn to take pride in traditional jewellery making methods, thus making handcrafted jewellery a sustainable trade.
Additionally, Milina also believes in the importance of provenance when it comes to jewellery and strongly believes that customers should know how their pieces are made and where they come from. The high street has plenty of pieces which are mass-produced and you never really get a sense of where they have come from and who has created them. When you work with independent designers and artisans, you can appreciate the craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The bespoke service
One thing that separates out jewellers with a real personal touch is their ability to offer a bespoke service. This is a truly valuable offering if you’re looking for a jeweller because they will be able to design and craft something that is entirely unique and made just for you.
As well as their beautiful range of jewellery, Milina London also offer a bespoke jewellery service. They can work with precious metals like platinum and gold, and precious stones such as diamonds, emeralds and sapphires to create the perfect piece of jewellery to your specifications.
New launch: the Indian Ocean collection
Milina London have also recently launched a new fine jewellery range, using gold and diamonds. This decision stemmed from demand – regular clients who were using the bespoke service showed a real interest in fine jewellery using gold and diamonds.
The inspiration behind the new fine jewellery collection was rooted in nature – Milina found beauty in the imagery of the moonlight falling on the Indian Ocean, as well as the visual concept of the craters on the moon. This celestial collection combines luxury with a delicate touch, resulting in beautiful new pieces of carefully designed, handmade jewellery.
