Kensington Mums Newsletter

Hello lovely KM readers,
Here’s your weekly newsletter from Kensington mums.
Keeping you in the loop with the local scoop

Another school holiday over. I hope you all had a wonderful half term holiday and Halloween with the whole family. Its back to routine now. I would love to know what was your favourite family outing or activity. Please leave a comment here and share it with other Mums. Did you enjoy the fireworks over the weekend? Get yourselves and your little ones all wrapped up warm in these cold days. In this week’s newsletter you will find all about our upcoming KM events, early bookings for London’s best ice skating rings and visits to see Santa’s Grotto (yes! December is only a few weeks away)  and the latest activities for you and your little ones to enjoy. Ice skating is of course perfect for the whole family to do but do consider going with your other half for a date night for a romantic experience. Everything will be beautifully illuminated after dark.

Here is what Kensington Mums got up to this half term:

Our baby and toddler yoga class was a great turnout. Thank you all for coming. Alice taught a wonderful class, with great breathing and relaxing techniques. It was a great exercise for both Mummy and baby. She explained each movement along the way, enhancing baby’s mental and physical development, while getting back into shape yourself! If you are interested to sign up and try out her classes, please get in touch with Kensington Mums to register your interest. Classes will run on a weekday morning.

Family Ignite. Albert’s Band – Showtime! at the Royal Albert Hall. Kensington Mums joined Albert’s Band for some razzle-dazzle of the glamorous world of West End musicals. If you enjoy music, age doesn’t matter to attend this show because it really captivates the attention of both the old and the young. The orchestra was really good and the members were both fun, interactive and entertaining. It was one hour of great classical music and delightful entertainment. 🙂 The Royal Albert Hall offers regular events and activities  from Family ignite concerts in the Café Consort to Victorian Tours, there is plenty on offer for all the family to get involved. Their next event is Junior Ignite This free ignite series takes place in the relaxed atmosphere of the Royal Albert Hall’s Café Consort and features talented young ensembles in performances from gypsy jazz to Parisian folk. Just turn up and enjoy fantastic music for free while enjoying great food and drink.

Rumplestiltskin at the Lyric Hammersmith. This play was great for children (aimed for 3-8 years old). There was a lot of magic and mayhem, which kids always love, dust fairies and live music. The theme of the show fitted well with Halloween and the characters interacted with the children before the show started. I think 55 minutes was a bit too long for little ones. The venue is very baby friendly and they have a lovely outdoor roof garden and a great cafe. Overall, great day out.

Our Kensington Mums, baby and toddler meet up at the Saatchi Gallery was lots of fun. We all got messy, painting and colouring! Our mini picasso’s got creative and took home their work of art. Thanks to everyone who came along. Hope to see you again at our guided tour on the 23rd Nov (booking is essential) more information below.

The Christmas lights are up in Kensington Arcade. The rest of London will all be beautifully switched on for the Christmas Season (more details below).

Kensington Mums visited Hamleys and watched the Puppet Show in Regent Street. These take place daily and are great entertainment for the whole family. The rest of the day was all about toys, toys and more toys.

Kensington Mums visited the Kensington Central Library. The children’s library is currently undergoing renovations. It was great to see the lovely work which was done to our local library. The entrance has been completely refurbished with a new self service system to take out and return books and DVDs.  They have a small temporary children’s corner where little ones can enjoy their selection of books.Their half term activities were also a lot of fun, we made cat masks!

Kensington Mums decorated Halloween cookies. Great way to keep the little ones entertained at home.

Halloween Family Extravaganza was only yesterday. It was all about dancing, dancing and more dancing! Thank you all for coming and hope you had as much fun as we did. A big thank you to Amanda and her team who made the event spook-tacular, for Annabel Karmel’s new food range which we all tasted and the amazing Claire from Fandabidozi facepainting for her incredible skills in making little ones happy.
